Yeah, I think there’s more going on here then the vague description offered in the OP entails. Unless you weren’t very clear on your instructions, it does sound like you’re overreacting. And I too would like to know more about this special chicken. Just exactly how much did you spend and _why_ can’t you get more until 2012?

Then what could “defrosted BOTH chickens” mean? Maybe I don’t want to know, to each his own.

I’m still reading this thread because I want to know what was so special about these two chickens.

Must be some special chickens. Did you ask your wife why she defrosted both, or did you focus on the fact that she did something contrary to your wishes?

**Superhal** , if my husband insisted that I defrost only one chicken and I defrosted both, I wouldn’t even feel he’s entitled to an explanation-- unless he decides to be the one responsible for planning menus and cooking meals.

As \*\*MikeG \*\*pointed out, meat does lose texture in the freezer. Sometimes, thawing and cooking it actually prolongs its useful life.

By the way, where do you live? Chickens are not a very expensive option, in my perhaps limited experience.

It wouldn’t matter if it were the Magical Chicken of BangCock; there are only two options here.

1. She did it on purpose
2. She didn’t do it on purpose

Hell, there could be multiple options stemming off option 2, since maybe she’s thawing them because the freezer is being defrosted or she has a secret and knows more are coming or is going to surprise him or…whatever.

Overreaction, by a lot, either way.

I’m another one that’s curious as to what kind of chickens these are? I really hope the OP comes back and answers that question!

But no, I wouldn’t fight about it. I might ask her why she did it, I’d double-check the date to be sure it’s _not_ a special occasion I’ve forgotten about, and in the end I’d decide what the hell? This is the one and only time that February 28, 2011 will EVER be here! It _is_ a special occasion! Then I’d enjoy my meal 😃

Knowing that it’s possible that a recipe could call for an amount of chickens greater than one - perhaps even two - I would do nothing other than aquire additional chicken next time I was shopping.

Honestly, I don’t get th op at all.

They are only available once per year. [They are cooked over an open fire using special charcoal](http://www.easy-birthday-party-ideas.com/image-files/luau-recipes-1.jpg). Similar chickens are available year round, but they don’t use the same cooking technique. [Other chickens are usually cooked on gas and/or using a turning machine so there’s no char](http://lh6.ggpht.com/_vJuq_wxKsaU/STxY9HN1P5I/AAAAAAAABcI/3KzaPOpRLQ0/CIMG6378.JPG). This chicken (sold at a fair) is the only chance to get it cooked the right way. This year, I bought 6, ate 4, saved 2.

Except for this one fair (held in early February), nobody else has these chickens cooked the way they are supposed to be cooked. The gas machine with spits is the usual way.

> Well, **SuperHal** ignores his wife’s wishes to quit insulting her under the guise of making “jokes,” and **SuperHal’s** wife ignores his wishes to not defrost two superchickens. Sounds like they’re just about right for each other.

Actually in that previous thread, I didn’t want to go off on a tangent about something I didn’t need and most people would ignore anyway, but I guess I can’t ignore it.

I like insult-based humor, my wife doesn’t. I have worked with her for years to figure out what she likes or doesn’t like. At this point, I have it down pat. **I do not want nor need advice about joke telling.** A major misunderstanding from the previous thread that I tried to ignore was that my joke telling style never changed. It has, and we’re both happy with it now.

But, what I was afraid of was that people would see “insult” and then suddenly think I’m insulting her all day every day, which is what happened anyway, and will probably still continue to happen even though I explained the situation.

What I wanted, and am grateful for those that posted, was examples of how to make compliments, of which I am nearly completely ignorant. Of course, there was a cadre of posters (who apparently seem to be cyber-stalking me now) who refused to believe they completely misunderstood everything I wrote.

In other words, I knew any attempt to talk or explain my joke telling would result in more misunderstanding because those people wanted to misunderstand, so I kept trying to refocus on the complimenting aspect. I pretty much abandoned that thread because it became completely derailed.

These people, who purposely misunderstand, now appear to be trying to derail another thread.

That looks good, though I can’t imagine freezing helps the taste. If the chickens were stuck together through freezing, thawing both makes sense. If they weren’t, and your wife unfroze both after you asked her not to, yeah, she was probably trying to piss you off. But as others have suggested, if this is the case, this is not about chicken, and you probably have bigger chickens to grill.

I will admit that my first thought was, “Fight? No. Divorce? Yes.”

Honestly, such a simple request, defrosting one Mystery Meal (because, yeah, it can’t just be a chicken), messing that up means the Spouse is passive-aggressive, dumber than stone, or completely inattentive to me. Life is too damned short.

(However, the Spouse and I have done all three to each other over the years, and we’re still married, so that’s just my first primal reaction.)

**Superhal** , I’m not purposely misunderstanding you or trying to cyber stalk you. I couldn’t help noticing what you said in another thread and it seems like you’re encountering some of the same problems. The way you talk about your wife not “complying” just disturbed me, as did the fact that you feel that complimenting your wife is lying to her. Just sort of indicates the fact that maybe you don’t quite see her as being on your level.

Side note, am I the only one who seriously needs some chicken now?

Maybe you should try some behaviorism on her. Apparently instrinsic motivation isn’t enough. 😉

But seriously, I recall you mentioning that your wife likes to watch Korean dramas. How Korean is she (like Korean-American, or from Korea)? Maybe there is a language barrier or she misheard you.

In the 2nd part of your post that I deleted, you continue to take words out of context **AND CHANGE THE INTENDED MEANING** to something completely different.
