My workplace caught on fire

RECEOP

“Post about it” comes last, obviously. Duh.

This happened when I worked at Disneyland. We had a small fire alert, no big deal, I think it was just too much smoke when somebody burnt something, but we had to evacuate just for safety’s sake while the fire safety officers checked the restaurant.

Well, the employees all evacuated orderly to the designated areas, but none of the customers did. They were afraid of losing their place in line even though there was an alarm and a prerecorded voice asking people to evacuate. 10 mins later, after we were cleared to come back to work, they were still waiting impatiently in line. One lady at the front matter-of-factly told me that she wasn’t going to lose her place in line for anything.

9 times out of 10, it is a new poster who revives zombie threads, presumably because they were searching on Google (but why the heck did they register just to post? I never do that if I come across another message board while searching), but not in this case, and by a long-term member to boot, who certainly should know about zombie threads.

ETA: Maybe it isn’t drachillix’s fault but a spammer posted and has since been deleted, but I don’t see any references to their post.

I actually ended up crosslinking from another thread involving dragongirl, didnt realize I slid into a zombie…

Wow. I didn’t see this one popping up again!

For anyone interested in an update, 2 years after running that program I was moved to a bigger and more challenging one. No fires this time, but many more scary and hair raising experiences brought on by a resident with rapidly developing Alzheimer’s and aggressive, destructive behaviors.

That person was placed in a nursing facility where we can be better cared for and that program settled down and just a few weeks ago I was sent to another messed up program to fix. That is what my role has become. Go to a messed up residential program, fix it, then we will send you to another messed up place.

Well now, THAT dude is someone we might like to hear about!

I’ve set my workplace on fire.

Twice.
I managed to put it out quickly both times, but damn, those chemical extinguishers sure do make a mess!

Ew.
