I opt out of gefilte fish because I’m not a fan, but I’m glad to have another excuse not to eat it this time around. “Nope, sorry - I’d prefer to opt out of fertility this year, if that’s OK”. 😃 Welcome to the asylum, **Jemmy**. Yay for fixed laptops! So, we’re up again, Nat’s chirruping to himself, and has pulled down the drying rack on himself. He was very pleased about it. He’s been wanting to knock it down for weeks. I want Crash Hot Potatoes. And chocolate. Not together. ---

Good morning, y’all! I slept like a happy, sleepy rock for a very long time, hooray! With the power nap yesterday afternoon I’ve probably been asleep more than I’ve been awake in the past 24 hours and I’m totally okay wid dat. I was so lazy last night that dinner was whole wheat/flax spaghetti (from Trader Joe’s, and VERY nommy!) with a huge dollop of roasted garlic paste, pesto and asiago/romano cheese. Sleazy, easy comfort food of the gods, I tellya… I want crash hot potatoes too, but I went to the veggie stand and their NOT were substandard and spendy so I have to go to the regular store in order to indulge my craving. I bet they’d be very nom with roasted garlic paste all over them–shall I try it and let you all know? 😛 I’m resisting those fritters with every fiber of my being. Unfortunately, this probably means I will bake some brownies or sump’n. Actually, Himself has been wanting to learn how to bake (he’s a very good cook but baking defeats him for some odd reason) so perhaps HE should make the brownies! Ha, win! Fixded laptops are indeed a good thing–Himself just established that the dodgy hinge on my old laptop is purely cosmetic and amenable to repair so it looks like my daughter will be getting a hand-me-down. Go get them ants, **Bobbio,** and while you’re at it kick some dope stealin’ housekeeper butt too! Rarrgh! Gefilte fish… _shudder_ Y’all may have mine! ---

Ummm… I actually like gefilte fish and I’m not even Jewish. Does that add to my weird cred? 😃 Churched, fed and home. We went and got burgers at BK. I also helped several people fill out Bishop search surveys, so I did my good deed for the day. Next up… clean the bathroom cause it’s kinda yuck. Then, maybe nappy poo time! Later Y’all! Speaking of potatoes, we don’t hafta be anywhere until noon (Not our **Noon** , today, so we had time to actually\* make\* a breakfast thing. I wanted pancakes, but didn’t want to make 'em from scratch and couldn’t find any pre-mix, but **Wifey** reminded me that we had some little red potatoes in the keeper, so I made garlic potatoes and eggs. I’ve described them here before, some years ago, but they bear repeating. If you aren’t interested, you make skip ahead. Okay. take an appropriate number of waxy (red, yukon gold, etc), not russet, potatoes and nuke them in the microwave until cooked, but not mushy. As if you were making potato salad. I used 3 small, 'cause that’s what we had. Ordinarily I would have used 2 mediums for the 2 of us. While the potatoes are cooking, chop up a big clove of garlic for each person. You can use more if you want to. Also beat up 2 eggs per person with a fork. Put in a little salt and pepper. When the potatoes are cooked (but not mushy) chop the in big cubes. (3/4 inch or so) Now, melt way too much butter or margarine in a skillet, (I ysed half a stick) and saute the garlic breifly, until you can smell it, then toss in the potatoes and some salt and pepper and cook them over medium heat a bit to infuse them with butter and garlic flavors. When you feel the time is right, pour the mixed-up eggs over, and do not stir. Let the eggs cook a bit, and then stir the cooked parts up off the bottom and leaqve it alone some more. You waqnt big chunks of eggs among your potatoes, not egg-coated potatoes. When the eggs are cooked, not runny, cooked, you may eat them. Gotta go. Orders have just come in. ---

Lunch break - not \*that \*kind! 😛 I’ve been an electrician today. SIL has been a painter, daughter has been a carpenter, and \*\*FCD \*\*has been a very unhappy camper for a variety of reason. But we took a break (except for SIL - he went to work.) I had to close up the house and turn on the air because humidity in here was 78% - yoiks! No idea what the afternoon holds, but I hope I remember to go pick up my meds and get some milk. Maybe we’ll quit early. But the kids won’t be moving down there today - too much left to get done. Oh well… ---

Roasted garlic paste? Where exactly does one buy this wondrous food product? (and please don’t say Trader Joe’s or Penzey’s, because it’s simply not fair that we Canadians have yet to get either… and no, Whole Foods doesn’t even come close to making up for it). Of course, because I’m weak and suggestible, I’ve got a wicked bad craving for Crash Potatoes. However, this is a problem because I lack the energy to go fetch potatoes, let alone do any real cooking. Can someone please send some of those over, stat? Or maybe an order or two of **Bumba** ’s egg and potato thing? Also, I’m still waiting on pumpkin muffins, despite having asked very politely. Hmph. ---

We had a great time last night at our neighbor’s 99 party. I also won twice, so I came home with over $100.00! Good grief, I’m tired. We didn’t get home until 2:30 this morning and I’m feeling it now. I’m so frustrated for my daughter. I found a site where she could pay to download the book she needs. She paid, and now it won’t download. She needed it to write a six page essay for tomorrow. My MIL is supposed to come over today. I love my MIL, but I really wish we could just have the day to ourselves. I’m tired and all I want to do is relax. ---

Cripes! I’m just unpacking the bag of toddler stuff Other Quasi-Daughter got us, and there are (counts) six pairs of pants, five pairs of overalls, some number of shirts, a hoodie, and a snowsuit. And about four sunsuit-y summer sleepers for two-year olds. Wow. Free clothes are the _best_. Even if they’re not for me. Nat’s telling me off because for this nap, he’s expected to go to sleep on his own. Last nap was with me, because I was up at six, and spent three and a half hours awake, dammit, and he wouldn’t sleep. This time, no luck, kid. The best you’ll get is pulled out and put down again in fifteen minutes. DO I want to cook dinner, or order pizza or something? I feel unloved. I think everyone’s busy today so we’re alone until Mr. Lissar gets home, probably around midnight. ---

Well, apparently we may soon (i.e. in the not too distant future) be getting a New York Fries franchise here in Bahrain, so I will finally get to try poutine. I hope their version resembles the real thing! And in two days time (or maybe three, depending on that whole moon sighting thing), Krispy Kreme opens its doors for the first time in Bahrain - I wanna try the cheesecake one! Nom nom nom!!! Sigh, I ate way too much at Iftar, but now I feel hungry again! 😛 ---
