High school kids can be so unspeakably cruel and petty. When I was in high school (more than forty years ago) I was hoping to be voted “Smartest Girl.” The title went instead to a rather effeminate young man. Hardy-har-har.

Oh, but I did get a title. I was chosen as “Most Likely to Die an Old Maid.”

I have been happily married for twenty-five years.
