I had to look twice… yay! Welcome back!
My daughter called me by my first name - I sat her down and explained that EVERYONE calls me that, but only one special person gets to call me Mom.
She went back to calling me Mom right away.
When my sister was around 18-20 months old, she started calling our dad “Waddy.” It took us a few times to figure out that she was trying to say “Rusty,” Dad’s nickname. She heard Mom calling him that and figured he had another name. She went back to “Daddy” before too long though.
Well played, very well played indeed. ::golf clap::
We have three boys, ages 11, 8 and 4. They all call me “Papa,” or much more rarely “Daddy,” and that’s just how I want it - at least until they turn 18. My eldest just yesterday called me “dude” as we were discussing a disciplinary problem of his, and I raised an eyebrow and said I wasn’t his dude. In a more relaxed situation I wouldn’t have objected, and would actually have been pleased; it just wasn’t the right thing for him to say at that moment.
