A girl I went to school with posted this as a myspace bulletin yesterday morning. Now, it should be obvious, but I’d better just note that Michael Richards did NOT write this. And to mods: this is not copywritten, nor was it written by the girl who posted it. I commented on the bulletin with this (note I write to my audience; a more relaxed, stream-of-consciousness style that is more fitting for myspace, and my paragraph breaks were removed by their software, so don’t bother pointing out that this is a jumbled mess. And, given our position, we should probably keep our mouths shut with dignity, and let the underdogs be proud of their progress, like they should be. “Brown pride” does not bother me because it means “I’m not going to let you hold me down because of the color of my skin.” “White pride” has historical connotations that mean, “I want to hold you down because of the color of my skin.” You have to face the fact that they are not the same term and they do not mean equivalent things. Changing that first word changes the entire meaning. And so minorities commit crimes. So? Are you saying white people DON’T? Face it, nobody is superior or inferior because of what they look like or where they came from. We’re all who we make ourselves in this world, and pretending otherwise just causes trouble for everybody. By the way, Michael Richards didn’t write that. Now, why does this piss me off? Because it’s racist? No, gimme a break, I grew up in the south, and this girl is from back home-- I expect it from those people. I’m pissed because it’s been over 24 hours since she posted this and I commented it on it, and she has over 300 people on her friends list and no one has said a word. She has logged on multiple times since then, and posted other things, and people have made comments on her page and other bulletins since then. So I guess the tactic is to run into a room - turn around, bend over, drop trou, and take a huge spraying shit - and then run out before anyone can give you what-for. Fucking cowards. Her and all her friends who read that shit and nod along with their opinions - _on either side_ - and not say a word. ---

I often wonder, what are they really angry about? Do they feel like they want to be able to be offensive, but society won’t let them? Or do they feel like they are being oprressed when they are called names? Seriously, there seems to be some sort of anger there at something I am not sure really exists at all. ---

Her mom was one of my favorite teachers ever, and she died a couple years ago, and we still talk about her once in awhile. ---

Actually poor whites are the least represented group in America right now. It’s fundamentally ludicrous to tell a poor white person that they have it better by virtue of being white than blacks. A bourgeois black kid of today is no more oppressed by racism than a bourgeois white kid. The correct answer is, ‘racists are fuckheads regardless of race’. Saying that it’s ok to be racist against whites because of slavery is the tyranny of low expectations, which in and of itself is racist. The OP is racist as well. Black people my age (31) never experienced any of the oppression outline above. They were not denied at the lunch counter, they were not whipped and chained. Yes there are still racial problems, but saying that it’s ok to be abusive to white people because their grandparents and great great grandparents MAY have been assholes to black people is ridiculous. ---

Which reminds me – that slimy racist screed quoted in the OP included “Kike” as one of the words that “White” people weren’t allowed to call others – so I guess the implication as that Jews don’t count as “White”. The thing is that “white” is not any kind of ethnicity or culture in itself. I think the parallel to “Black Pride,” or “Hispanic Pride” is stuff like Irish, or Polish or Italian pride. Specific ethnicities and heritages. “White” is not a heritage. ---
