Mysterious Sound

Walmart parking lot, Dahlonega, GA.

Thanks!

But, dang, I can’t make sense of your very splendid mystery.

My idea about musical roads is nearly perfect. They emit a few tones that are somewhat musical, but the tuning drifts around because vehicle speeds aren’t perfectly steady or matched. I think that’s how this sounds. Alas, there are few musical roads, and none of them are near Georgia. A completely excellent theory, wasted on reality.

I have a whole lot of industrial experience in many fields, and can’t think of anything industrial that sounds like this. I looked at your location with maps and aerial photos, and found no interesting leads, including possible industrial sources (so far).

I’m scratching the bottom of my barrel here, but, can you say the sounds appeared to be coming from some particular direction? Which direction? Do the sounds keep up like that around the clock over multiple days? The sheriffs office is less than half a mile away, and surely if the sounds have persisted the citizenry would be asking them about it, or they’d have been curious enough to track them down. Ask them?

Really, a very nice mystery! I’m not ready to pin this on aliens yet.

Might it be something coming from the Consolidated Gold Mine tourist attraction next door? Maybe there is a tornado siren at the sheriff’s office

I’m still thinking that someone was messing with a siren at the fire station close by.

I suppose I could stop by and ask them if they know anything about this.
