A. I meant, if there are real masons, will they know they are masons? Or will they have to find their fellow masons via Night Action? And if so, will we be subjected to fake mason find claims too?

B. Who said anything about Day powers?

C. No, but thanks for checking.

I don’t really like the votes on Peeker. To me, all of is posts are always a null tell.
I realize some are saying that he’s been more understandable (and helpful) in some past games (ones that I didn’t happen to play with him in), but I’ve always pretty much found him to be half understandable and half not. I followed along that one that he was scum in and I’ve seen him be just as helpful and coherent in games afterwards (where he was Town)…so really, I can’t see basing a vote on it.
One thing that is raising my eyebrow, though, is comments like these:

> [@Episkey](#):
>
> Dancecat gets a villager lean from me for now
>
> \<snip\>
>
> I will consider him [Giraffe] a town lean for now as well.

I think giving ANYONE a “town lean” (especially on Day One) is baffling. I have no idea how many games you’ve played in previously (although I assume it’s a lot and that you’re not new to the game), but I don’t understand how anyone can give anyone else a town lean.
I think doing something like this is something that could most likely lead to coming back to bite you in the ass, if one is Town. Just ask **Scuba Ben** , in Cult of Sekham if you don’t believe me. : p He certainly had a “town lean” from me for most of that game, which turned out to be pretty unfounded in the end. So much for town leans being effective.
But to expand further on your post:

> [@Episkey](#):
>
> **Rather than “your vote is bad, I vote you”, Dancecat comes in and gets more information from Giraffe, and then uses the information that Giraffe is relatively new to deduce it’s not for scummy reasons.**
>
> **If Dancecat was scum, she had an easy reason to vote Giraffe here that would garnish very little heat and chose not to take it.** As scum, I have seen Dancecat take these spots.
>
> Dancecat gets a villager lean from me for now.

OR it could just as easily be she’s scum who was just biding their time and will use it as a reason to vote later. Or a scum who’s trying to get buddy buddy/cuddling up to someone voting for her (which, **Giraffe** did switch his vote).
I guess I just don’t understand how you make the leap so easily into Town lean. Myself (and I’d think/hope MOST players) seem to be suspicious of everyone until they’re either dead or somehow confirmed in a 100 percent way.
It really strikes me as being dangerous to assign Town anythings to people this early.

Are you just needling me here? Yeah, I was the worst scum ever in Gilligan’s Island. As soon as you laid out your case on me, I knew I was boned. My only hope was to agree with you that I’d been super scummy and hope that people might believe no one would be dumb enough as scum to actually play that way. Unfortunately, I then misread when Day ended, so I never got a chance to make the second half of the case. :smack:

1. I think most of what I said is objectively true: I think scum will be more self-conscious about their Townie image and want to place defensible votes which don’t look too fishy several Days in, once the vote record solidifies.

2. Let’s see how peeker flips. (I’m feeling pretty good about him at this point.) Objectively, I think I have to say I do, in part because I’m easily manipulated by players like you and peeker. But I’m trying to get better. We’ll see.

Any needling I do is just to get and gauge reactions.

I did want clarity. I wanted to get a sense of how you are looking at Scum hunting in this game compared to the last game where you were Scum.
When you say you’re feeling pretty good about peeker, does that mean you think he’s Town or you think he’s Scum?

I can’t confirm this. You never flipped if you won bluffing or were called on it that I can recall.

If I had to guess from playing mafia with you, I’d say that you’re probably one hell of a bluffer and you probably get a great joy out of successfully doing so.

I read the first page or so of the link to when this game was played before. I seem to remember a rule posted that no betting was allowed. I thought at the time how strange that was. I’d never seen that rule before and couldn’t imagine anyone ever betting on or in a mafia game. Ha!

I think the issue here is another that stems from the playing styles on the different boards. One of the main strategies there is to try and clear some villagers and use process of elimination to win the end game.

We often give some pretty early - and sometimes thin - reads on players for things we think make someone more than random to be town or scum. For instance, one of the things I always look for is internal consistency in a person’s defenses/explanations/reasonings, as those people should be town more often than random. Townie’s opinions should always follow a logical progression since they are trying to solve the game. Scum opinions can often jump around since they are just trying to appear that they have certain opinions instead of actually having them.

Giraffe’s thought processes have been easy to follow logically, and therefore I believe he is more likely than normal to be town. So I give him an early town lean. This isn’t the end all be all or anything, and can change at a later time should his opinions start making less sense or other scum-like behavior, but for now I am not comfortable with voting to lynch him and the result is him being put on my town lean list.

As for Dancecat, she is an extremely competent player and I know it is possible she could just be delaying her jump onto Giraffe to not make it appear to be a spite vote, but as of right this second I also believe her to be town more than random would dictate. I can understand what she’s thinking and the reasoning behind the vast majority of her posts.
I think the confusion comes from our “lean lists” can alter many times in a given day as we gain more information, so we take them lightly while players here would rather wait until they are much more confident prior to saying someone is “probably town”.

I am going to vote for someone with a bad idea. First MykBot has the bad idea:

> [@MykBot](#):
>
> I would suggest that it’s important to know what your ability actually is, which is why targeting yourself last night was smart. Of course, apparently there was only 1 night 0 action, meaning all but one of us still have no idea what our night action is. If you did NOT target yourself last night, that is still an option - it should reveal what your night action is in a lot of cases. If you DID target yourself last night - like me - try to target the scummiest/wolfiest player you can find tonight.

Below, I believe that he is referring to NAF’s bad idea, but perhaps he is already trying to explain that his own bad idea doesn’t make him scummy? Though I wonder why he continues to think that targeting yourself is an OK idea.

> [@MykBot](#):
>
> Seriously though, what wolf decides “you know what would be an awesome way to get clear, I’m gonna make up a potentially useful to some small degree but _completely ridiculous_ suggestion for people to follow and post it asap”? It would just be super weird.
>
> Plankton: That’s why I said targeting yourself last night was smart. Now that all the power roles are presumably live, I think targeting yourself is on the table but it’s obviously riskier. In the first game I targeted myself, got nothing, then targeted someone else, got nothing, then targeted myself AGAIN because I was obviously not dangerous, still got nothing. . .I ended up never even knowing what the hell my role was doing.

This is a bad idea from someone who played in the previous version of this game. Wouldn’t he realize that targeting yourself is a way to kill off all of the vig’s? And yet even after we pointed that out, he’s still recommending it as a viable option that he’d try himself. Looks to me like a wolf trying to get a few naive vig’s to off themselves.

**Vote: Mykbot**
