Great, another Mafia post spammer. Just what we need.

**Krayz** , you should get along really well with **peeker** and **PizzaGuy**.

Come to think of it, I am used to **Meeko** trying to out-post Peeks. But Meeko has barely shown up Today. THAT is so unlike his style I’m worried. But with 3.5 hours to Dusk I see no reason to lynch him Today.

OTOH, I see good reason to make a lynch last-minute-voter proof.

So for what it’s worth, I think all of us currently being the sole vote on someone ought to reconsider.

I’m leaning away from Krayz and peeker. They both come across to me as prolific posters, with a very high noise level in their posts. Nothing strikes me as scummy nor townie.

Dancecat doesn’t seem scummy to me either.

I want to take a look at the cases on TexCat, Silver Jan, Giraffe, and Mahaloth. I may want to vote for one of these.

I don’t like the case on TimeLady. I am highly unlikely to vote for her.

And I think I’ll work on my Townie reads, since my efforts to read people as Scummy keep failing.

No derailing, but in a closed setup it’s possible there are no Masons at all, so until you have evidence of the existence of a masonry, it’s possible (although risky and generally insane) that Scum could be pulling a gambit.

Holy Jesus, that’s a lot to catch up on. I finally am, though, after refreshing a few times on the last page just to make sure I caught everything.

I usually reply on a post by post basis, so forgive me if something I say is said later (I don’t usually go back and change things, although I usually do give credit to a person for saying the same thing if/when I see it)

> [@Drain\_Bead](#):

> Since we can’t Night-strategize, I wanted to throw this discussion point out there. As Town, should we be trying to target people we think are Town tonight, or people who we think might be Scum? My inclination is to try to target Scum, as I can think of only one role I might have that could actively hurt in that situation (Doc) and a lot of roles I might have that would help (blocker lol, vig, cop, watcher/tracker, etc.). Is there anything I’m not considering here?

Well, see, that’s the thing, nobody knows what they are. But it’s not too hard to guess that there’s probably one of each “main” role among us. Doc, Detective…unfortunately, I’m guessing Vig is among them too. Using the word unfortunately here because (from the rules) it looks like submitting a Night action is mandatory, so if there is a Vig, they’ll have to kill every Night. So unless the Vig has some kind of percentage thing on if they’re successful or not, that’s going to do in one player a Night along with scum.
So really, talking about trying to target specific people is in vain right now. Personally, I’m going to pick someone based on [random.org](http://random.org).
I mean, say you’re a Doc (and don’t know it), targetting someone you think is scum would go badly there (obviously). Same if you’re a Vig and you target someone you think is Town.

My suggestion is that everyone just chooses a completely random player.

And, I see that **Sub Plank** mentions the same things (shorter version) in a later post.

> Also, because (fake)peeks are hilarious and I’m the kind of guy who tries out new cultural practices rather than sneering at them, NAF1138 is a villager.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand them. I mean, I understand what they’re supposed to do, but there’s a ton of loopholes in the logic that I see.
For example, what about it working the other way? What if someone were to say “Player A is a wolf” instead of fakepeeking that they’re Town? After all, I don’t see how that’s any different from saying someone is Town when they could actually be a wolf.

> [@Dancecat](#):
>
> do you guys call it fool or jester or something else? guy who wins (and ends) the game if lynched.

## I’ve typically seen “Jester”. In all the games I’ve ever played that had a Jester, though, game did not end when they were lynched. They just win with the rest of the winners at the end. I think ending a game once a Jester is lynched is a bastard mod tactic.

**Unvote Dancecat**
**Vote Krayz**

I don’t care who he is, he’s certainly not contributing towards the game. Not much to go on when all he does is accuse many players of being wolves and not give much (or any) explanation when called on it.
Even the players who know him and are used to playing with him in games admit his behavior is off and that he’s not acting like himself. Well, speaking as a person who doesn’t know him at all, that’s good enough for me.
There’s usually a good reason that a person you know isn’t acting like they usually do…the reason, in my opinion, should be—well—donuts (to try out one of the 2p2 terms)(And I really hope I used it right).

Even if a Jester, I seriously doubt Gad would end the game on Day one (or any Day, for that matter) after putting together such a huge game. I’m betting (IF there is a Jester) that the game will go on after they’re lynched and that the Jester will just win at the end with the other winners.
I’m also sure there will probably be many new posts made after I finally submit this.

> In any event, I still don’t see how a player’s bad idea warrants a vote. As I said before, throwing out suggestions (no matter how bad they may seem) is something that generates discussion and doesn’t necessarily have to come to fruition. I don’t think that scum would bother trying to get town to do something that is pro-scum (not so much a “scum wouldn’t do that” but more of a “why would scum bother”). I am also bothered by those voting for \*\*NAF \*\*for the same reason.

Bad ideas warrant votes at certain times, especially early in the game. Votes are the best way that we have of pressuring responses from individuals so that we can get them to explain their reasoning and, thus, give us an opportunity to examine their motivations. After getting their reasoning, we can then decide to maintain our vote and have the additional ammunition from their reasoning, or back down because their motivations seem benign.

Isn’t this pretty standard mafia practice?

> I’m afraid I don’t quite see what you’re getting at beyond the obvious. A POG wolf in this game would want to buddy up to POG villagers, but I think I’m missing your point. ☹

Tell me if this makes sense:

As town, you’d be pretty skeptical of me when I post because you don’t know my role and you know I’m a somewhat capable wolf. So when I make a post like that one which showcases my logical reasoning for deciding you and Giraffe are town leans for me, you say something similar to what you said “This is a good post, but I’m never clearing you for making sense because I’ve seen it in both roles”. What you posted makes complete sense as town with your knowledge of my play.

As scum though, I think you look at that post and say to yourself “That post is completely logical despite its incorrect conclusion (because you’d be scum in this example ldo)”. So you’d tell me as such (minus the incorrect conclusion part obv) and not try to keep me from having any suspicions about my conclusions: by giving me a pretty heavy town lean from it.
Cliffs:
When you know my role you’ll see a logical post and give me a lean for it but when you don’t know my role you’ll see it but remain skeptical.

Episkey, MykBot, Krayz, and I just finished a really interesting game in which everything ended if the Fool successfully got lynched. I was the Fool. I think I would have made it, too, except the wolfteam peeked me n1 and left me drawing dead.

Like I said at the time: meddling kids. 🙂

Ooh, interesting. Ed voted in #487, but didn’t give a reason until #492 after Jan pressed him for one.

Sis Coyote picked up on this in #562, but didn’t give much of a reason in turn.

If either of them had more than one voter I’d join in. But this late in the Day I think we need to narrow down our lynch candidates. Though I would like to follow up on Ed and Sis Coyote Tomorrow.

AOP: Two people reply to Gad that Meeko got subbed out, and **gnarlycharlie** replies to me with the same info.

So there seems to be a real reason Meeko isn’t prolific in this game.

I can’t speak for Sis, but it isn’t the Jan vote by itself that pinged me. It was the whole sequence of events that started with the vote on Peek and ended with the Jan vote. There is something in there that doesn’t match up, and I can’t put my finger on it but there is a wrongness there.

I still think Peek displayed his tell and then hurried to cover it up so I am not moving my vote, but I am not totally convinced now that Ed isn’t his scum buddy.

That said I will place a vote

Where the player comes from and how they choose to play the game aside.
If I can get back in I will make sure this is where I still want my vote. But at this point that’s my best case and I do want to make sure I leave a voting record.

> I am, admittedly, having a tougher time finding wolf candidates than I usually do. It might be because I’m used to higher volume games, or because I usually play with the same people over and over (and over) again and there are so many names that are new to me here. I’m also trying to value my gut instinct less and my logic more, so I’m having to read much more closely and put in a lot more effort instead of going with my “gut feeling” and just running with it/screaming for whoever pinged my wolfdar to get lynched (which is my usual early game scumhunting “strategy”). That said, my top two scum reads right now are Silver Jan and Krayz. Silver Jan just made a classic wolf post (as Special Ed already pointed out, so I won’t repeat what he said but his thought process was nearly identical to mine). Krayz is usually a high volume, excited, hardworking player as a villager, and I’m not seeing that here. He’s just complaining/whining and not actually putting any work in. I think either is a good lynch.
>

Uh, aren’t you always a wolf? When have you ever had to look for wolf candidates? I def agree with you that all the new faces make it harder to get a grip on this game though.

My first impulse is to target players in the middle of the pack, who haven’t been particularly townie or scummie. We don’t know our powers yet, so we don’t want to inadvertently help the wolves or hurt the villagers with our targeting. There’s more villagers than wolves also, so just from a %'s stand point make sure you consider the odds when figuring out what your power is and who to use it on as days pass.

Krayz has since posted that he’s moving or something so I wouldn’t give too much weight to him just popping in and not catching up. I have no idea what you’re talking about wrt to the “results of 2 investigations from Night 0 going to ONE player.” (Explain what I’m missing here please?)

As for the last point, I think it’s likely that we have a unique PR out there or a neutral. I can’t really think of any unique PR affiliation roles there would be because in a game of this size there’s usually multiple angels, seers, vigs, etc (and I’d expect even more of those roles to exist here anyways given this particular format). The OP also mentions there could be neutrals, and only having one n0 action could be explained by a sole neutral. Additionally the mod could have just done something like picking one submitted n0 action at random and allowing that one to work n0.

This reminds me of something. Someone pointed out (I’m pretty sure it was in the HP game on pog) that hifi (dancecat) is abrasive to others and sort of insulting when he plays as a wolf. He was doing just that particular game (thus he was called out for it) and he ended up being a wolf.

This game dancecats has been admittedly toned down, supposedly because of the new forum. I completely understand that, but everyone needs to consider that he’s also doing this because someone in a former game pointed out a tell.

Again, I think it’s really unlikely there is one seer in this game because of the size. IIRC there’s usually 2 in a 21 person game, I’d expect about 3 or 4 this game.

If krayz is claiming seer then we can’t just turbo lynch krayz… I also think it’s bad to lynch you just because krayz claimed you (which I would suspect him to target you as a real peek or a listed fake peek because you’re both from pog) but if someone really wants to resolve the claim, and think you’ve been scummie regardless, then you have to die before the possible seer.

>
> If **Krayz** is Scum, though, I’m actually going to lean Town on **Ben**. His initial vote which caused the first tie would have been way too dangerous at that point. That vote could have caused a major wagon to pick up steam. It’s possible it was a bus–hell, I’ve done a hardcore Day One bus of a teammate as Scum before–but with nobody really getting too much traction in terms of voting wagons, it seems like a dangerous and unnecessary gambit to bus someone right now.

Do you guys tend to lock in your votes all day? In POG some random tie scenario in mid day is always going to be resolved and people vote right up until the last minute.

> You understand that lynching a seer is a catastrophic error, right?

Which is why krayz can’t be lynched (if anyone believes him), but maybe you could be.

> [@Dancecat](#):

I discussed this with someone a little on page 5 6 or 7. Apparently seers aren’t a valuable to them as it would be to poggers because these guys have sooooo much more time to make reads and come to solid conclusions. Our bigger games and shorter days mean seers with lock clearing ability are much more important.

Lol, I wouldn’t expect him to actually provide you with this. I hope he does, but given his claimed time constraints I wouldn’t expect it and you probably shouldn’t hold him accountable for not doing so.

> We now have a four-way tie. I really hope we don’t end up with a lynch being left up to a random choice. I’m also thinking someone in that bunch must be scum and his/her scumbuddies are trying to save him/her. Right? Isn’t that the common theory on bandwagons? If we have one that was a total runaway, it’s likely a townie getting lynched. But all this close voting makes me think the scum are trying to get a competing bandwagon going. If I’m wrong, I’d appreciate someone enlightening me (I’m trying to remember a recent conversation on bandwagons in another game).

Multiway ties (imo) are indicative of a wolf in the mix. In the harry potter game one day we had 6 close lead wagons, with 5 of the top 6 all being wolves. The 6th was a neutral!

Seriously. No one has any indication of their role except maybe the person who got a n0 action.

>

The point I was trying to make, which you don’t seem to be considering in your analysis, is that as Town, it’s a good percentage play to aim for someone you think is Scum rather than aim for someone you think is Town (or go random) because there are more types Town powers that would be better aimed at Scum. The only Town power that I can think of that is better aimed at Town is something protective. Aiming toward someone you think is Scum is a better play on odds.

>

The game evolved since you last played and this isn’t SOP anymore. Like I said after I presented my idea, the point of posting it was really more to see how people reacted to it than anything. Much like Dancecat’s stated point in voting for me.

I have seen the light, it was a bad idea and I don’t blame you voting me for it, but it’s sort of an outdated concept.
