MST3K is also the best hangover remedy. I remember waking up early after a night of revelry and watching, bleary-eyed, some episode about a monkey clapping cymbals. I remember it had a cat catching on fire and running around which was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. Can’t remember the title of the movie. But my hangover was gone! ---

Some of my favorite interlude bits… The “Sidehackers” play-by-play announcing The Kim Catrall song, “She’s cute, she’s rooty toot toot. I bet she smells like Juicy Fruit…” And my all time favorite crack-up moment was during an interlude, I think for Hercules, when Joel asked a question about Steve Reeves and Gypsy says, “He’s shiny!”. ---

The first MST3K episode I saw all the way through was none other than _Hobgoblins,_ in a hotel room in Houghton, Michigan (very boring trip, really). I laughed myself sick. 😉 And I still think that’s one of the best episodes I’ve seen. As far as the Joel/Mike thing goes, I think people invariably prefer the one they saw first. Feel free to prove me wrong, though. Oh, and since people have invoked shorts, my personal favorite is the truly demented “A Case of Spring Fever,” featuring the terrifying imp Coily the Spring Sprite. “You’ll be the first to die!” 😉 ---

I think my favorite short was “A Date With Your Family”, an instructional film which repeatedly cautions against showing any emotion in front of your loved ones… ever. That, and the accompanying movie, _Invasion USA_ (in which the US is overrun by Russian Commies because, I kid you not, the Pentagon can’t get any factories to accept military contracts) gave a really disturbing picture of America in the 1950’s. ---

The last season was CLASSIC. Especially when they did a second Joe Don Baker movie, _Final Justice_. After _Mitchell_, it was pretty much confirmed that Baker hated them and wants to kick their asses. So they REALLY did a number on him in this one. It was hysterical. They were SO MEAN!!! Especially the song that Crow and Tom sing to the end credits. Then the Merlin one, “Rock and roll martian!” And then there was _The Girl in Gold Boots_, with Brain Guy dancing around in a gold mini dress and boots, and when Crow was dancing and stripping and Servo was throwing money at him! BTW, am I the only one who has huge crush on both Mike and Joel? ---

I’m watching Boggy Creek right now. I couldn’t say what my first MST was. I never saw it, because I never had cable, but my roommate has a bunch of them on tape and DVD, and I gradually started watching bits and pieces, and then longer stretches, and then whole movies, as I gradually became hooked. “How much Keefe is in this movie?” “_Miles_ O’Keefe!” “Joe Don Baker _is_ Mittens! He’s a cop.” I liked the trip to Uncle Jim’s dairy farm short. ---
