There is a genre of music I find really cool when I’m in the right mood; it goes by “techno” or “house” or “trance” or “rave” or who knows what, depending on location and audience. A good many years ago, I heard one tune that went like this: _I wanna be where the boys are_ _But I’m not allowed_ - repeat\* and toward the end, _And play with my toys_ _I’m not a BOY!_ The song is sung by a female (duh), with a sound that is winsome and a little distant, distant as in a sound effect. “Where the Boys Are” just gets me Patsy Cline, who is perfectly fine, but that’s not the song. Any solutions/ notions/ hints? ---

Never heard it before, but my Google-Fu says that the song you’re looking for is “Boy” by Book of Love. ---

If it’s Book of Love, it would have to have been MANY years ago (they were a late-80s synthy new wavy band)-- perhaps it’s a later cover? (if it really sounds like 90s/later techno) ETA-- Ah, it looks like in 2000 or so that song was remixed. ---
