Who says Jesse did that? He just said it was hard to come by. It’s never shown on-screen, but I doubt that he just bought all their other stuff in a store over the counter.
I don’t know if any myths are involved in that. Trains actually get robbed all the time around here, in the most densely populated part of the country. They would have all the time in the world to drain a tank car in the middle of the desert.
It’s so bad that most of our container and trailer trains actually get a police escort out of New Jersey. Theives also rob the boxcars carrying beer and wine, and they do know exactly which cars to hit.
I checked the Mythbusters website, and didn’t see anything, but they need to do a myth bust on “silencers” or firearm sound suppressors.
They did do a small segment with a .45. (H&K, I think.)
Showed it was hearing safe with subsonic ammo.
They did not have all the time in the world in that episode. They had to drain what they needed, and replace it with the same volume of water, in a limited amount of time. In fact, it ended up being more limited than they thought it would be but they still managed to pull it off.
Ah. I checked their website under “Weapons,” and didn’t see it.
Thanks.
