[CNN says](http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/11/23/nkorea.skorea.military.fire/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1) the South Korean government immediately called an emergency meeting of its security ministers. Are we expecting a phone call from them in Washington? What is it that always gets the gourde of these wannabe tyrants, besides an island border dispute? ---

Heya I’m a ROK border artilleryman on terminal leave (I’m finished with my enlistment this Fri) and they haven’t called me back yet so yay? They _did_ tell me not to leave the house though as to stay in contact. This shit’s kind of making me nervous, especially after having had HBO’s The Pacific-athon for the past couple of days. This better not influence my discharge date or I’ll be pretty peeved. My base is on some sort of immediate fire standby (don’t know the actual english term is) apparently. It’s not anything special, but if I hear we move into our defcon 2 position then I’ll start worrying. ---

It’s just saber rattling. North Korea in reality is powerless to act without the OK of China which it doesn’t have. China isn’t going to give anyone, much less the USA, an excuse to invade North Korea. They don’t want anyone close to their borders. North Korea shoots one nuke and China would be in there so fast overthrowing the government, as a “remedy” to the situation. So North Korea is left with throwing out just enough stuff to be irritating. ---

Odd. The Hang Seng fell 2.67%, but the Kospi closed down only 0.8%. Guess Korea’s used to this regardless of the plunge in the SK won? ---
