I think I have already cited this, but for those who can read French, there is a beautiful text - ORTHOTYPOGRAPIE by Jean-Pierre Lacroux that treats these precise discussions, going from language to typos, computer polices and settings, to Postal ineptitude, as well as the European attempt to standardise writing. It is devilishly funny, though he was much better at criticism than counsel
