So I flew out of Dulles (Washington, DC area) and my little nail clippers went through security in carry on luggage. I guess they’re now allowed. ---

Either that or the security people are incompetent… I went through an airport-style security checkpoint a while back, and they insisted I turn my laptop on while completely ignoring the swiss army knife next to it. Go figure… ---

Nailclippers are allowed these days, but they keep turning me away when I carry my grenade launcher. Picky, picky, picky. ---

Back in March of last year, my large scissors came through with me. I hadn’t done it on purpose – I just wasn’t thinking about it and I had a cross-stitch that I needed to finish for my best friend’s wedding. It was in my carryon, not hidden, and they didn’t stop me, didn’t do anything. I didn’t realize it until **lurker** turned toward me half way through the flight and mentioned it. For the rest of the flight, I kinda hide them between my legs and hoped no one thought I was trying to take over the plane! :eek: ---

My SO’s father wasn’t allowed a nail clipper when he went to Mexico back in November. I guess they relaxed a little on the rules. Either that, or it’s air line dependent. ---

My friend got a machete through, completely by accident. No foolin’. She went through security at some major airport, opened her carryon when she got off the plane, and said, “Hm.” ---

Now this is no joke, but they wouldn’t let my friend take on her knitting needles. She even asked if she could bring her wooden or plastic ones. When I told her the joke as to why they wouldn’t let her she just rolled her eyes. I got through our federal buildings security with my little pocket knife and nail clippers. I know it’s not the same as airport security but they make you walk through a metal detector and put your bag through a scanner thingy. I blushed when they asked me if I had anything small and battery operated in my bag and it took me a moment to realise that I have a small flashlight in my bag, but my first thought was of the thread around here about the vibrator and airport security. Don’t ask me why since I don’t carry anything like that in my bag. Almost everything else under the sun is in there but those are tucked safely away in my toy box. ---

Well, now that you can take your nail clippers onto the plane, you need to be extra careful they don’t fall into the wrong hands. You know, in case a terrorist gets them and threatens to clip your nails or something. Maybe even clip them until they bleed. :eek:
