Nails in a Wood Stove

When I stopped to pick up my saw he was just about to light a fire to burn all the pressure treated wood scraps. He offered me a beer, but I declined. I got out of there quick.

I knew a guy who didn’t hesitate to burn pressure treated wood, wood with nails, or anything else in his wood stove. Must have been bad for his health because he died shortly after his 96th birthday.

Or he was spreading the toxic chemicals to his neighbors.

Also, note that some people who smoke three packs of unfiltered cigarettes daily for decades never get cancer; you can’t just say, “Well he lived until he was 96 years old; burning pressure-treated lumber is harmless.”

That’s going to hold and transfer the heat to various objects in your house a LOT faster than a burning wood chip!

Transfer heat faster, yes but wood is fuel and an ember can stay hot far longer. Between a burning coal and a nail of equal weight and starting temp dropped in some unattended bedding, the ember is more dangerous.

Now if choosing between an ember vs a nail to fall down my shirt, I’ll take the ember and thank you for letting me pick.
