Years ago I saw someone on an amusement park ride wearing a T-shirt reading “Naked Lacrosse: Rough, Tough, and in the Buff!” I didn’t have the courage to ask her about it. Now, I did a search on Google and turned up several Amazon-like sites advertising merchandise displaying the slogan along with lacrosse equipment and helmets. Is this for real, or just an attention-getting shtick for t-shirts and such? ---

I remember seeing those shirts when I was in college. It was just an attention getting shirt for frat guys. They’d often wear a backward “Cocks” baseball cap as well, even if they were 3000 miles away from South Carolinia. ---

I still love the fact that there are two USCs in the U.S., and one of them is the Cocks (well, the Gamecocks, but as you say, it’s frequently shortened), and the other is the Trojans. Fitting, huh? ---

I also recall a wide variety of custom fraternity T-shirts, usually commemorating some party or event (Greek Week '94, Alpha Phi / Sigma Chi Spring Social or some such thing), featuring likeness of cartoon characters (Calvin & Hobbes, Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy, Bevis & Butthead and so on) in uncharacteristically sexual or drunken scenarios. And of course, the ubiquitous “College” shirt / sweatshirt made famous by John Belushi in Animal House. ---

As others have said, a running ‘gag’ for a few years. I did get a basketball one sent to me back when I was living in Ireland. This was the early 90’s and I though it was the coolest thing ever. I was an idiot for most of the 90’s and about half of the 80’s. ---

FWIW, my Mom’s birth name was Johnson (Della Frances Johnson) and her family carried genes for tallness (in males). My two brothers and I are all tall. (My sister is only 5’3", like our Mom.) ---

As a college student in the late 80s, I thought my Co-ed Naked Lacrosse t-shirt was the funniest thing ever. I went to a University known for their lacrosse team, which made it even better. I wore that shirt to death. I believe mine said “Rough, Tough and in the Buff”, but I have seen other Co-ed Naked shirts that said, “Rude, Crude and in the Nude”. ---

I was in a music fraternity in college. The favor from the formal we had my freshman year (early 1995) was a T-Shirt designed by one of the members: Co-ed Naked Composing: We know how to score. ---
