It depends on how you define “near”… Near, as in the same hospital, Doug Flutie. Near, as in within 25 miles, tons – I grew up 20 miles east of Boston. One site had 7 pages worth, a few I knew about, many I didn’t, such as Barbara Walters, Leonard Nimoy and Dane Cook. Kind of interesting to read. ---

> [@ginman999](#): > > How well know are the three people I listed? > > John Wooden > David Letterman > John Dillinger I’ve heard of John Dillinger and John Wooden. Have no clue who the second guy is, though. I kid! I kid! 😃 One of John Dillinger’s arrests was in Tucson in 1934 when the Hotel Congress caught fire. Some of the firefighter recognized members of Dillinger’s gang and the police arrested him and four other members of his gang, He was sent to jail in Indiana, where he escaped and fled to Chicago.. ---

I originally thought the post referred to people born in the same town–I just now realized it says “near you”. Where I live now, the only ones I can think of are Lloyd Bentson, Tom Landry, and Freddy Fender. Not nearly as many as in my birth-town of Mempho. ---

I was born in Toronto, as were: – Peter Jennings – Lorne Michaels – John Candy The OP only asked for three, but there are many other famous people born in Toronto. I’m in good company. As for where I currently live (Lethbridge, Alberta), Conrad Bain of “Diff’rent Strokes” was born here; Fay Wray of “King Kong” fame was born in Cardston, which is a town not far away; and Joni Mitchell was born in Fort Macleod, also not far away. ---

I was surprised to discover recently that Sojourner Truth was born on a farm not far from here, near Rosendale NY. The only notable person born in the town where I currently reside is The Queen of Mean herself, Leona Helmsley. ---
