> [@Chefguy](#): > > Nobody, really. Even Sarah Palin was born in Idaho. Other than a couple of Olympic athletes, most famous people from Alaska were born elsewhere. You can add [Scott Gomez](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Gomez) to the list. First native Alaskan to play in the NHL, with the added twist of being of Columbian and Mexican descent making him the first Latino to be drafted and play as well. Two Stanley Cups to his name, as well, which qualifies him as famous, I would think. As for where I was born: A few NHLers: Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Éric Bélanger, David Perron, Matheiu Dandenault, Yanic Perreault, Christian Dubé Jean Charest, Québec Premier (and former federal MP and leader of the Progressive Conservative party/Deputy Prime Minister) Singers: Jim Corcoran and Garou Northrop Frye Harry Saltzman (producer of James Bond movies) And from nearby, Joseph-Armand Bombardier, inventor of the Ski-Doo and namesake for the Bombardier companies: BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) which makes Ski-Doos, Sea-Doos, Spyders, ATVs, etc and Bombardier which make airplanes and trains. ---
