When people intentionally tell an offensive off-color and not even mildly amusing joke and then when they don’t get a laugh they’ll pull the old, “What? It’s just a joke! Don’t be so butthurt!” -that offends me. ---

Wanton destruction of perfectly good items. I mostly saw this when I was a kid–boys melting G. I. Joes, breaking CDs in half, pulling the tentacles off Koosh balls. For god’s sake, don’t you know some of us \*wish \*we had that stuff? ---

I’m with **ambivalid** and **jcwoman** on the door thing. Most of the people who do that have no clue about how someone wit a cane or chair needs to go through. ---

Outside of the obvious (racists, morons of any ilk, or Pittsburgh Steelers fans) my greatest offense comes from other drivers who you assist in the course of normal driving (slowing to allow them to merge, moving out of their way, flagging them through at a light) who do not acknowledge your consideration in any way. Yeah, its a small thing; but it really offends me for some reason. ---

I’m offended by someone(s) trying to foist their religion on me: Jehovah’s Witnesses, et al, knocking on the door; going to dinner as a group and someone demands we all hold hands and say grace. I don’t support organized religion. Similarly, those aggressive kiosk clerks at the mall can bite my curvy behind. ---

I can’t think of the opposite ever happening outside of a host at a restaurant coming from the inside. Now…sometimes I’ll notice someone at the last minute and I’ll the door open behind me with the expectation that they’ll grab the door edge themselves… ---

I’m offended by people who confuse opinions with facts. “X is a subset of Y” “No, actually X is a subset of Z” (stating an actual fact) “Well, I think X is a subset of Y. That’s my opinion.” “I doesn’t matter if it’s your opinion; it’s not true.” “Don’t tell me my opinion isn’t valid!!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.” :smack: ---

If it makes any difference, a very awkwardly polite woman held the door for me today. I’m a tall-ish, able-bodied 47-year-old. She was about 5 feet tall, thirty-ish, and held the door in such a manner that I had to duck under her armpit. (In a normal situation, she’d have simply let me take the handle. Instead, we looked like the Marx Brothers in drag. It was odd.) As a southern lady of a certain age, I appreciate formal manners, but it’s not good manners to make someone else uncomfortable just to satisfy one’s own urge to be helpful. ---

Stupid, knee-jerk class attitudes. (I’m in California) So, people who make stupid assumptions about me based on my (perceived) social class. Also people who make irrational yet somehow unassailable assumptions about themselves based on their own (perceived) social class. ---

Not too much offends me. I have skin as thick as an elephant’s hide, and even though I get pissed-off by certain behaviours, my pissed-offedness passes quickly. HOWEVER, that being said, I find certain posters on this board incredibly offensive for the bile they spew. Because even if it IS trolling, the subject matter and the context in which their posts are made shows they give less than a shit about other human beings, even when those other beings are members of this board. And it IS offensive, even though I’m not the one the offence is directed at. Oh, and people who let their dogs shit on the beach and paths to the beach without cleaning it up? The shit itself, yeah that’s pretty offensive, but the owners flagrant disregard for normal social and community mores offends me more. ---

Wait, “_ **aggressive kiosk clerks?** _” I must hear more! Also, for all those who mention courtesy waves (thanks-for-polite-vehicular-behavior waves) I want to say that as a bicyclist who does not drive a car, I make it a point to always give the wave, because I do appreciate it, and besides, it’s behavior that I want to encourage. I have even received courtesy waves from people driving cars occasionally, always a nice surprise. ---
