I read a scifi story somewhere in the late 60’s to late 70’s, it has been bugging me since. Cannot remember the title or author…All I can remember it was a solitary man on (Mars?) who (crash-landed?) and had no food, no water. Was dying. Found what had been some type of dwelling. Saw a ‘trough’…saw a ‘fountain’…heard awful noises. The last I remember of this is when he put his ‘snout’ into the trough and ate… he had transformed to life there. Oh help please. Thanks, jean 😕

You’ll probably do better with a question like this in Cafe Society. I’ll alert the mods so they can help out with moving it. 🙂

Could be “Enchanted Village” by A.E. van Vogt.
If you asked me on a quiz show I wouldn’t have gotten the title and author. But I knew I had it in one or more anthology books I have.

**Moderator Action**

Since this concerns literature, off to CS it goes.

Moving thread from General Questions to Cafe Society.

Yeah, that sounds right - the description of Enchanted Village here [Private Site](http://jennre.wordpress.com/2012/05/13/the-enchanted-village-a-e-van-vogt-1950/) says “During the night, it seems the city adjusts. The man wakes up to a delicious meal, violin music, and a proper bed temperature. He waddles off happily, unperturbed by his new snout and four-foot tail.”

Definitely the Van Vogt.
