It was about a Russian surveyor exploring and mapping Siberia. He comes across a local who helps him out in a most “Din”-ian manner. It was a really great movie and I think that the title was the locals name twice, as if it were being shouted.

If anyone can track this gem down for me I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks,

I’m pretty sure that you’re looking for [Dersu Uzala](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0071411/) Saw it years ago. Great film.

Directed by Akira Kurosawa, it should be noted.
