Name that tune Misheard Lyrics edition.

I got distracted with work before I got any googling done. Oh well.

“I’ve got shoes, they’re made of plywood”

“You’re the One that I Want”!

a couple from me:

“and ask the grinning plowshare why he grins”

…I guess one, since the other one I thought I was mishearing

“The New York Times effect on man” is correct ??!??

What I heard:

Admiral Halsey had to fight me
He had to have a bath or he couldn’t get to sea
I had another laugh and I had a cup of tea and a butterfly
(something something something something)

What it was:
Admiral Halsey notified me
He had to have a berth or he couldn’t get to sea
I had another look and I had a cup of tea and a butter pie
The butter wouldn’t melt so I put it in the pie

I got the hook, though:
Hands across the water, water
Hands across the sky

OK, here’s a really hard one. And let me specify - I have NO idea what this song is actually saying. I know:

-It’s a kids song (learnt by my daughter at preschool)
-It’s in French
-My daughter is the Reigning Monarch of Mangled Lyrics, so the actual words may be WAY different from what I’m hearing.

This is what I hear from her:

“One ma medal for Maman.
Dee-Lah Dee-Lah Dee-Lah”

Tune is something like Old Macdonald.

If you can tell me what it is you may delay me going crazy by weeks if not months!

This one is probably much easier than Aspidistra’s:

“It’s not fair to deny me of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me”

“…you,you,you oughta know”

Allanis Morrisette

I’m gonna guess Sur le pont d’Avignon
Sur le pont d’Avignon
L’on y danse, l’on y danse
Sur le pont d’Avignon
L’on y danse tous en rond

Someone actually doing it, though the tune is embellished.

Speaking of Youtube, I ain’t talking about Alan Parsons, not the Spinners, just talking about you and me (and Joe South), and the Games People Play
My own misheard lyric:

“all I do is keep the beat, and the band accompanies.”

Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet.

Nope, mine’s definitely not Sur le Pont D’Avignon. She’s singing it in 3/4 time. Imagine the first two lines of “Old McDonald” in 3/4, and that’s basically it. She can mangle pretty good, but not that good!

‘It’s a half an enchilada and you think you’re gonna drown’

I have to admit I read that one on a misheard lyrics site before I even heard the song, but now I can’t help but sing along in my head like that.
