# Name this dog! (with pictures!)

My wife was driving back form her mom’s house this afternoon and saw this dog on the median of the Interstate. Figuring the poor thing would get killed otherwise, she stopped and picked her up. The dog is maybe six months old, quiet and well-behaved (so far); she seems fairly healthy, but she’s underfed. We fed her and bathed her, and now she’s been sleeping for about four hours.
Anyway, we may not be able to keep her, as we have an Evil Cat ™ that may turn out to be anti-dog, in which case my mother-in-law will take her. Either way, though, we still get naming rights.

Note: In the second photo, that’s not mange; she’d just had a bath and was still a little wet, is why her fur looks like that. Also her undercoat is bright white, which looks weird under the black outer fur.
So let’s have suggestions; what should we name her?
(Of course we reserve the right to ignore all suggestions and go with our own choice. Personally, I want to call her “Maude.”)

There are soooo many different breeds she could be a mix of. The first thing that comes to mind would be a shepherd (coloring) terrier (shape of head) cross. And I happen to like Maude for the little hitch hiker.

I have always, always, wanted a small black and brown street-urchin type dog of unidentifiable breed, preferably female, named Murphy.

Actually, Maude is pretty good. Margaret would be nice too. I always wanted to call a cat Margaret anyhow. That’s a pretty cute doggie, by the way.

She may not be spotted like the pokey little puppy but she did apparantly ignore her mothers warning to never ever dig holes under fences.

Dogs on highway medians are often dropped off there by people who don’t want them anymore. They figure that someone will be kind, like **jackelope** , and pick them up, but more oftenthan not the doggies fall victim to 18 wheelers.
As for this cute little gal, I like Maude, but I like Sweetie even better, because the first reaction I had when I saw the picture was “Oh, sweet thing!” I hope you can keep her, **jackelope**. I hope the cat comes around in a couple of days.

She looks a lot like the puppy of a friend - and that puppy’s name is **Sadie**. She really is a cutie and glad to hear that she’ll be going to a good home. 🙂

Good suggestions, all!
Kaitlyn is out of the question because I have a niece by that name. My wife has already suggested Lulu, but the problem is that I have a hard time saying those two Ls together for some reason. Much like trying to pronounce “rural.”
“Snickers” is awesome. If she weren’t so quiet and good-natured, I’d want to call her “Bonkers,” because I’ve always wanted a dog named Bonkers.
Anyway, she and the wife are at the vet right now; I suppose we shouldn’t go picking names until we see what kind of health report she gets. Watch this space!

First thing I said when when I saw the pic was “Ooh! Sweetie!” so I’ll second your motion.
Also want to nominate the moniker “Garm,” but that’s too pretty a dog to be named that! 😃
