He’s a beagle… I have the perfect name.
Snoopy
He’s a beagle… I have the perfect name.
Snoopy
I’m sorry everybody, but I can’t STAND the name “Sparky”!!!
(It may be because it’s an easy variation of my maiden name, and those god-dammed stuck-up bitches in junior high used to CALL ME by "C’mere, Sparky! Good dog. Ruff Ruff!!)
Two syllable perky names are good for beagles. Snoopy is SO over-used (used to work in a vet clinic) - very cliche. I’ve always wanted to name a dog Edgar, though. I think maybe you should wait a day or two and try to get a feel for his personality though. While some dogs may make a fine “Buster,” others are just way too dignified for that. That’s when you need something cool like Cecil, Edgar, Max, etc.
Just my long-winded two cents.
He looks like a Dodger or a Manny to me.
Another brag page… Here is Casey who joined our family just a couple days ago
Bob.
I’m going with Fritz, Joey or Lego.
Since we’re post pictures of dogs (I wasn’t going to bring it up, but since ya’ll brought it up), here’s mine!
Char.
Ozzy.
Rocco.
Ozzy again.
Just for the sake of humour.
Since he makes it tough to compose a post… maybe he’ll be called Nudgy.
I assume you’ve been taking him for walks. He is, after all, not a puppy and, therefore, presumably housebroken. Are you saying he hasn’t gone at all? Or, just not in the house?
If it’s the latter, I’d just count my blessings. If it’s the former, I’d be a little concerned, even though shelters rarely let dogs with medical problems go to new owners. It’s not really clear exactly how long you’ve had the dog (Oh, and I like Sparky or Jacob/Jake). If it’s been more than a day, with no urinary or fecal output, at all, that would worry me.
Actually, the OP says I had adopted him that day…
And yesterday I stepped out to buy him some things at the store and found a present when I returned.
Annnnnnd…
We just got back from our fourth walk, and he took a monster piddle. Must have been holding it in until he felt comfortable…
Maybe I’ll name him No Name or Generic… Or Brand X!
heh
Hey, how about Brandex?
I like Homer. Good for a Beagle or a baseball fan.
Homer! Hmm… then I might have to feed him donuts all the time…
He’s definitely an attention hog. I think he’s very happy to be out of stir.
He looks like a Leonard to me. If you are so inclined, that could be short for Leonard Nimoy or Leonard Cohen, though that’s not what I had in mind.
Hey, how about Brandex?
I withdraw that suggestion. It sounds like a cleaning product. Sorry.
How about Dylan?
Clyde?
Mac?
Jimbo?
Pete?
All interesting suggestions - thanks, everyone!
It’s tough when you don’t know anything about his past. Why, he could have been a SuperDog, avenging criminal deeds, righting wrongs, making sure no bow was sans wow…
Pablo or Pygmy.
Scorpius (Sorry, I’m a Farscape fan:).
Here’s a picture of my niece and nephew (technically my brother’s and his fiance’s - the ones in the picture, but I love these dogs like they’re my own - they’re the most spoiled dogs in the world): Simba and Nalla .

My beloved pup is “Kody”
Those are beautiful doggies avabeth!
Thank you everyone for sharing photos. I love dawgies!!
Well, there’s your answer: “never fear, Underdog is here!”
Good to see you 'round here again, btw.
Underdog. That strikes a chord of truth, verily.
Given his performance during walkin’ times, he might well be called Lungey the Great.
