Another “How you got your nick” thread, eh? Has it been two months already? Anyway… Jophiel: Hebraic for “Beauty of God”, Jophiel was the first angel mentioned (though not by name) in the Bible. He was the friendly cherubim who booted Adam and Eve out of the Garden back in Genesis. I used the name because I’m interested in angeology and trying to get a better known name like Gabriel on the net is a fool’s errand. Jophiel is obscure enough to generally be free when registering for things, but still an archangel and a semi-important figure in angelic lore. * * * “I guess one person can make a difference, although most of the time they probably shouldn’t.” ---

That’s easy. Most of the folks I hang out with accuse me of being a walking dictionary. “Dictionary” as a handle would sound stupid, so I chose lexicon. Yosemite, the URL you posted worked for me. Anyways, my story is pretty boring. I go to college at RPI, which assigns everyone an email address consisting of the first five letters of their last name, their first initial, then a number if necessary, of course followed by @rpi.edu. So I just use it for everything, out of convenience. ---

Mine isn’t terribly interesting - it’s my first name and my confirmation name (I haven’t used my original middle name since confirmation). Also, since my mother and I share the name Valerie, I needed the distinction, since “Junior” and “Little Val” just about make my eyes bleed… That’s about it. * * * Everybody knows that Steve McGarrett only takes orders from the governor and God - and occassionally even they have trouble. ---

Phouka is an archaic version of pooka or puck, a trickster spirit from British folktales. There’s a pooka in the movie _Harvey_, and a phouka in one of my favorite books, _War for the Oaks_ by Emma Bull. Also, Puck, in Shakespeare’s _A Midsummer Night’s Dream_, calls himself Robin Goodfellow, and my RL name is Robin. ---
