Jeez… I know I got The Cars’ ‘Candy-O’ and ‘The Cars’… I was a big Cars fan, and still get a kick out of hearing them on the radio every now and then. The other ones I for the life of me cannot remember. I want to say U2’s Rattle and Hum, but I think that was a Christmas gift from my dad. Maybe some Fleetwood Mac or Bad Company. Jimmy Buffet perhaps. I know I had some of those albums, but I also frequented resale places and picked up a lot of music there. BTW this was ca. 1993/94, and it was all on cassette. Yeah, a 12 year old listening classic rock in the 90s. 🆒 Strange thing is, I’ve never replaced any of those cassette albums with their CD versions. I still love classic rock, though. ETA: Kansas!!! The one that has the old guy with the book on the cover! And a Guns n’ Roses album who’s name I’m sure I don’t remember! ---

Missed the edit. Kansas fans, don’t hate me. It wasnt their debut album, which had the old guy with the book. It was ‘Leftoverture’, which had an old guy and a scroll. My bad. ---

I remember when I was picking out my CDs they had a section of Heavy Metal Favorites that seemed just amazing. I think I got all but one of the albums I didn’t own already, and this comprised a big section of my 12. I also got the first Rage Against the Machine album in that initial order, despite never hearing a song of theirs. I saw their name and thought they must be pretty damn good to have a name like that, plus I have 12 CDs so I can afford to take a chance. And between the time I ordered it and the time I got it, the video for “Freedom” came on MTV and knew I’d made a good decision.
