Except it doesn’t show all the main characters. Except for the extended version they showed briefly in the second season, the Janitor is omitted. Admittedly, in the show’s first concept the Janitor was going to be a figment of JD’s imagination, but it’s still slightly vexsome not to see him. Also it would be nice if they’d ever updated it; Sarah Chalke, in particular, looks very different now (her hair was much more boring back then).
How could I miss Doctor Who
Always been partial to Hill Street Blues, not because the credits themselves are stellar, but the theme song is one of the all-time greats.
And running a bunch of keys over some piano strings. That whole arrangement was courtesy of Delia Derbyshire, who, it could be argued, single-handedly invented modern electronic music back in 1963 with a bunch of stuff and a lot of sticky tape. The swooshing visuals, done with with video feedback, were pretty cool too.
Well since Icerigger took my #1 (UFO), I’ll add my #2:
I was going mention this one too.
Also, NYPD Blue.
And Golden Girls. I think I remembe hearing a longer version of Thank You once or twice – am I crazy?
Yes, the theme tune stands on its own as a lovely piece of music.
(As you say the credits are just a way of naming the actors.)
I like 2 1/2 Men’s lipsyncing.
MST3k, a wonderful satire of traditional TV credits that never gets old.
Somebody beat me to Dexter. I love the imagery.
I also really like the opening of **Survivor **and how they have the same tune, but change up the tribal chants each season to match the location.
