I want to name my daughter (if I ever have one) Aurora. Not because of the story, but because it was my great-granny’s name, and from what I know she was a cool woman, so I think it’s good to continue the name. ---

I want to have three daughters and name them Faith, Hope, and Charity. Faith I might actually use as a name someday, I suppose. ---

Cordelia - both from the Anne of Green Gables series and…yes, Buffy. I think it’s a cool name for a little girl. But I just can’t see using it as a name…however, when I have a kid, I might change my mind. Johann. I love it, but I can see a kid geting teased. Or I could just name a boy Bach. Ava ---

I’ve always loved the romantic, exotic sound of “foreign” names. Guillermo, Magdalena, Athena, Filomena, Phillipe, Francois, Vincenzo… and I married a guy with a very obviously Irish surname. What the hell was I thinking? When I was expecting my daughter, my very Italian mother suggested I look for a nice Irish-sounding name, then proceeded to tell us her ideas of nice Irish-sounding names: Mary Katherine, Mary Elizabeth, Mary Patricia, Mary Claire, Mary Colleen and Mary Erin. We only got her to stop making suggestions when we told her we were going to name the child Mother Superior. ---

Godzillatemple, I went to school with a guy named Augustine Fu. I didn’t make much of it until one night, after staying up all night with some buddies, his name just struck me: “What the HELL kind of name is Augustine Fu?” Laughed for hours… ---

It gets better - I went to school with a guy named Ludwig Lee. Only guy I’ve ever met named Ludwig, and he’s Asian. Well how do you like that. Faith Hope and Charity is a cool idea except you _know_ that one of these days the third one is gonna stumble on that verse that says “and the greatest of these is charity.” Instant sibling rivalry disaster of, well, biblical proportions. Cassandra and Jocasta would be wonderful names but for the mythological association (though I did once know a guy named Orestes, which he got away with by being Greek.) I knew another girl named Regan, though - jeez, what kind of parent names their daughter after one of the _evil_ princesses?! How sharper than a serpent’s tooth, indeed… Aurora is a wonderful name. Moon, Mona (an older form thereof) and Luna would be great names too, except that 1) they sound hippie, not necessarily a problem, but also 2) they are easily corrupted to Moon Unit, Moaner, and Looney. I mentioned Barcelona; Montreal and Madrid could conceivably be cool-sounding middle names, possibly for a boy. (For Madrid and Barcelona it would be essential not to have the least trace of Spanish ancestry. Madrid and Barcelona O’Leary-Chang, if at all possible.) I did name a character in a putative manga story I was drawing “Madrid.” Seriously, though, I love the name Cynthia (an epithet of Artemis, which is a pretty good name by itself), but everyone I’ve mentioned it to has said Ick! Opinions? ---

My father swears he was ‘this close’ to naming me **“Gaylord”**. Yeah - way to go dad. I always liked nouns as names (but not those hippy-esque ones like star river moon sky etc.). How about: **"Monitor"** **"Box"** **"Ledge"** **"Bucket"** **"Toothbrush"** My GF says I wouldn’t have the guts to name a child one of those. well now, ::hitching up trousers:: we’ll just see about that…😃 **"trousers"** - another winner! ---
