Some of my friends call me kitten. I don’t know why, except someone did say it is because I am sort of purry and cuddly like a kitten. I wish I hadn’t asked, because I sort of had Eartha Kitt as catwoman in my head, and now all I can think of is…well, I don’t know, but I preferred Eartha. That is what I get for being nosy. **Rue** calls me Josie. He’s Alan. Nevermind, you don’t need to know. Everyone else calls me Scotti or Cheri, and that is fine too. My brother calls me Cher, but no one else ever does. It never occurred to me to do searches on someone’s nickname, just think of all the things I have missed over the years? ---

FWIW, if _I_ ever call you “Kitten”, it _will_ be with Eartha as Catwoman firmly in mind. 😉 I’m actually quite happy with being called “Balance” (as the DFW Dopers could tell you), and I probably respond to it more readily than to my real name–if only because “John” so often refers to someone or something else. Of course, I also respond readily to “Gordon”, “Garrett”, “Kael”, and “Cid” (the names of some of my IFGS characters). If I were to pick a new real name now, I’d probably take “Garrett”. I just like the sound of it. “Galactic Emperor” is much too long a name–what if someone were trying to tell you to duck? 😃 ---

If it consoles you at all, **Flam** , I can’t do a vanity search for **pun** (not that I ever DO vanity searches)… Some people called me **iam** when I first got here because it was shorter’n my actual name. But most of y’all called me some variation of **punha** (pr the aforementioned **pun** ), and I guess that stuck (lately **Jonathan Chance** has taken to putting an apostrophe before the P in my name, like so: **'pun** ). I don’t even bother with the first three letters of my SN when I’m in chat, and nobody really seems to miss 'em. I’ve basically given up on trying to teach people how to say my SN, and as someone at ChiDope put it, “Why don’t you just call him Patrick? It’s much easier.” But I don’t care, really, so long as you don’t call me Pat;)\* \ ***Weirddave** is the only one allowed to call me Pat … dunno why, just is. ---
