I’m about to start a blog, and would like a witty name. It’s going to be mostly discussion of my newcomer’s attempts to start a backyard garden (in New England), as well as photos and descriptions of things that I cook. There might also be random book discussions, unrelated to either of the above topics. And, if I ever get out the quilting stuff again, there will be photos of projects. Basically, with the exception of the book discussions, it will be about doing things myself that would be cheaper and easier to purchase. If it helps, there will be way too many tomatoes in the garden. Any thoughts, creative Dopers? ---

[/QUOTE] So it’s sort of the opposite of _frugal_ - kind of _defiantly elaborate_ or something? I really like the idea, BTW - if I understand you correctly, it’s the same sort of gently anarchic stance against mass-production and consumer blandness that I favour in my own dabblings. ---

**Mangetout** , you understand me perfectly, and you are on the right track. The only problem is that I won’t be doing things well to start off with, so I’m not sure I want the name of the blog to be quite so “confident”. **DMark** , the blog is going to be shown to my parents, so I’ll avoid your suggestion. ---

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I wound up googling for quotations and found this: "He had been eight years upon a project for extracting sunbeams out of cucumbers, which were to be put into vials hermetically sealed, and let out to warm the air in raw, inclement summers. " - Jonathon Swift For some reason, it really tickles my fancy, so I think I will go with “Sunbeams out of cucumbers”. Thanks again! ---
