# Naming Convention about the Bronx, NY

Then again, there’s The O.C…

Anyway, there is one other official name with the article ‘the’: [The Dalles](http://www.isu.edu/~trinmich/Thedalles.html), Oregon, a major stop on the old Oregon Trail. It appears also that it was named after a river, although it’s not totally clear.

87 is also the thruway til it hits Albany, then it becomes the northway. But it’s always just 87.
