Of course it did. You click on the link and the NYT tells you to register. You finally set up your one-use shell acount, and you get the first three lines and an invitation to give them money. Which is why I love getting [the free alternate version](http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/150609_kristof02.html) from Google News. ---
