NASA's Mars Rover Curiosity

Fuck the Olympics. That was a much better show of human determination and talent. Great job NASA! I wasn’t born yet when the first moon landings happened but I think I got a touch of the same feeling from this one.

Well, color me duly impressed. That was pretty amazing.

Yeah science!

Well put. I’m veklempt (sp?).

Amazing they can get pictures so fast.

Man, that could have gone wrong SO many ways. But it didn’t!

Quick, get Shia LeBouf on the next Atlas V!

yes

That was seriously cool. The line for the bathroom? Not so much:)

It’s Fuckin’ Mars, BITCH! Now we have the RV/Meth lab equivalent of Breaking Bad on the planet.

Outstanding!

Someone on NASA TV yelled HOLY SHIT! I must concur.

Bust my buttons, America can still do stuff, and say…things.

And engineering!

No one had time to say “Pics, or it didn’t happen” before there were pics!

Oh, I know. It’s AMAZING how fast it went from “Thousands of miles out in space, moving at 12,000 miles an hour” to “Touchdown!” (I think at one point they said it was pulling 11 or 12 gees.)
Congratulations, wolfstu, and IvoryTowerDenizen’s colleague’s husband and fachverwirrt’s good friend and good friend’s boyfriend, and all the rest of you guys.

We’re a pretty cool species sometimes.

Yeh, yeh, yeh… Years of hard work… Solving impossible problems of engineering and rocketry… Blah blah blah. We all know it’s the peanuts.

The bloody probe twittered the news itself!

I’d like to see some pics. My computer at work doesn’t allow java or adobe.

So, being nuclear powered and all, what’s the life-expectancy of this baby?

2 years

Take that Martin Hyde!
