Does every man in Nashville have a kid they don’t know about? Is that just a thing they do there? If you’re a guy and you move there, does that mean that sooner or later your ex-girlfriend/ex-wife/ex-fling is going to show up and say “Surprise!” Last night was not a great episode. On top of everything else, the Zoe storyline makes less than no sense. If I’d paid $100+ for a ticket to see a major star, I do not want to see the backup singer. I don’t care how nice of a voice or how much energy the backup singer might have. I would definitely not be cheering for her/him. I’d be trying to figure out who could give me my money back. ---

I know it’s TV and suspension of disbelief and blah blah blah, but everyone has GOT to stop pretending that Juliette isn’t showing yet! There have been several scenes where the baby bump was obvious. At the very least, other characters/the tabloids should be commenting on her weight gain. Out of character, maybe (for Juliette to spotlight one of her backup singers), but planned. So why not keep cheering? And for half a song, who cares. And we can just hope that the Gay Assault Duo are not country music fans, since they have the wallet of _Up and Coming Country Music Superstar Will Lexington!!!_ in their possession. There is no way that could become a problem. ---

I really hate Avery now. He is a whiney prick and I have no idea what he wants out of life. And is Scarlett going to hook up with the homeless guy next? And I have no sympathy for Rayna getting all weepy because she wasn’t there to pierce her daughters ears? And how stupid is Teddy to not see that girl from the party as a setup by Jeff? Yes, I yelled at me TV a lot during that episode. Don’t judge me. ---

Maybe it’s because I’m a guy, but I think Rayna majorly overreacted to not being there for her kids’ ear piercing and highlights. WTF- it’s just highlights, fer pete’s sake. It’s not like a face tattoo. How did Will pay the cabbie after the park dudes stole his wallet? I assume that Jeff realizes that if he can get what’s-her-name (the beard) to cheat with her producer, he can plant a story that she’s stepping out on her heartthrob husband, and his problems (with her) are solved. Oh- and in last week’s episode, I loved how they had Juliette’s manager come to the door without his toupee on, but it nearly turned what was supposed to be an emotional scene into a sight gag. ---

That was a really bad hour of television. No, the people on this show often make terrible decisions for the sake of _drama_, but usually not all this bad, all at once. The big ones - 1. Who takes a child to an awards ceremony? Who? Why? Obviously the writers put him there so that he could get lost without really getting lost, but why didn’t the characters call a damn babysitter? If Scarlett is a good enough friend that Zoe to just show up on her doorstep with suitcases, she’s a good enough friend to ask “can you watch my psuedo-step-kid for a few hours while we go to an award show?” 2. Rayna James has a lot of money of her own, a considerable inheritance from her father, two children from a previous relationship, and owns a business. Anyone in her position who does not have a pre-nup is just stupid. Being in it together is all well and good, but lawyers and accountants should be intimately involved in her and Luke’s relationship for sanity’s sake. 3. The mayor of the city spots a call girl with a businessman of some sort. Because he is jealous, he decides to make it clear to the businessman that he’s been paying a prostitute thereby insuring that the citizens of Nashville will be massively overpaying for whatever it is that guy’s company sells after he blackmails Teddy. & so on. It was just bad, bad writing. The first two plots could have been done better (have the kid run away while the babysitter was watching him/Rayna & Luke could have fought over the terms of the contract rather than its existence) so that the characters sort of made sense. That was just a mess top to bottom. ---

The shark may have been jumped in the scene with Juliette skulking around in a wheelchair with a bandanna over her mouth. Either that or when the evil record company guy picked up the guitar … or when Lila woke up with him the next morning. ---

I think we are the only two still watching. Rayna, are you just realizing that you will always play second fiddle to Luke’s career? Was everyone in Nashville at that fair? Or were they all at the same fair, because I’m not sure the hipsterpalooza that Will, Layla and Slimy Jeff were at was the same venue as Gunnar and his boring band battle. ---

Make that 3. When Will said East Nashville is overcrowded with hipsters, that is a very true statement. Juliette stalking Avery was extremely ridiculous for so many reasons. And why does Jeff Fordham still have a job? He is using that label to play all his personal power games, none of which make the company money. They already showed a scene where the board of directors called him out on it and he has done… nothing but get the mayor laid, try to sign Rayna’s kids to a contract and sleep with his new artist’s wife. ---

I was confused by that, too! I think you’re right that it was two separate things, but at first I thought they were all at the hipsterpalooza and I was wondering why everyone who’s anyone in country music was suddenly at the same non-country event. I still don’t know why Jeff Fordham showed up: Will and Layla were the only ones with a legit reason to be there, IMO. ---

The season resumed last night, wading in the aftermath of the called off wedding. Some thoughts: I actually sympathize with Juliette, having someone move in with you does suck because they want to rearrange all your decorating. Rayna treats men like crap, I don’t think she will ever be happy. Can a mayor really halt a police investigation and make it go away? :dubious: The touching scene with Will and Jeff Fordham, are they setting up the season finale shocker of those 2 getting together?
