Indeed.
the red sox are the only team worth mentioning.
i went to a phillies game recently, they did take me out to the ball game.
Many years ago I went to a West End musical in London. They played God Save the Queen before the curtain went up. I don’t know if that’s still the custom, but that shows it’s not unique to the U.S. and/or sportinng events.
I could be onboard if it was the Sex Pistols version.
The Yankee Stadium crowd usually stands for the playing of “YMCA”…
Maybe she was drunk, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s just the story she decided to go with.
What are her options?
- I’m a bad singer
- I was purposely singing bad to be funny/go viral
- I was drunk
Option 1 is bad for any singer. Option 2 might work for a punk band, but is career death for country. So drunk it is.
I mean, even if you watched with the sound muted, she looked pretty wasted. I think that it’s safe to say that “I was drunk” was the truth. Even if it wasn’t the whole truth.
Agree. People who were there reported that she wasn’t walking very steadily to and from the mic.
I only caught the tail end of the story on the news last night, but I swear that they said that she was checking into some sort of facility. Rehab?
Yes, as she herself posted on X yesterday, and as shared upthread:
Any adult talking about, ‘kids these days’ has completely forgotten about being a kid and never once experienced what kids today endure. It’s not necessarily better or worse or easier or harder, it’s just so completely different as to be unrecognizable and the product that all this will produce is an unknown quality.
It’s scary having kids now and it’ll be even scarier for everyone else when they grow up.

and as shared upthread
Oops. I skimmed through the thread and missed it.
Aww, man, that video linked upthread has been removed. Now I gotta go hunt for it.
Afaik, there are no pop machines in schools around here. I’ve never seen them in elementary schools.
Hey, at some bowling tournament I went to some lady tried to get everyone to put their hands over their hearts. She was pretty pushy about it. She was lucky I stood. Especially after the speech she gave.
I wish we’d had a pop machine in my grade school. Though it probably would have had Little Chute or Jolly Good, and the only flavors left would be lime and cream soda.

Just sing the damn song! As it was written.
Since the tune is taken from a drinking song, maybe Ingrid here was singing it as written.
Has anyone mentioned Roseanne Barr in this thread? My father, not an activist, said it would have been worth getting arrested to run out onto the field to grab the mic and have enough time to say “Now let’s do it right.” I told him I would have run interference with security to help him out.
my two favorite good performances were the Oak Ridge Boys and Toni Tenille. Can’t remember the year of Tenilles singing but before she started she asked everyone to join her in singing, then just did it straight. The Oak Ridge Boys sang at the start of the sixth game of the 1985 World Series, and did it straight with a lovely four part harmony.

Has anyone mentioned Roseanne Barr in this thread?
Many times
Don’t forget the fake accent and an insincere slathering of “y’all.” (Ingrid is from Michigan and Colorado!)
I like bluegrass. I like folk. But I loathe so much modern country music because of the Nashvilleification of it all.
Surely not the worst you have heard, have you not heard this
