# Nat'l Football League Fines - Where does the money go?

So the NFL fines Chad Ocho Cinco for wearing a sombrero or trying to hand the ref a $1 bill - what does the NFL do with that money?

From [WikiAnswers](http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_do_nfl_fines_go), it appears that the money is donated to designated charities. The [Brian Piccolo Fund](http://www.brianpiccolofund.org/) is one of them.

Same is true for other pro sports, the money goes to charity. They don’t want the league to be profiting off player fines.

Most fines in the NHL go to the NHLPA’s Emergency Player Assistance fund. Fines for drug violations help fund the NHL’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program and the Performance Enhancing Substances Program.
