Does the US Navy still use _corvette_ as a designation? ---

However, we do have the USS Freedom “Littoral Combat Ship”, which some people might consider a sort of corvette. ---

We do work with lots of navies that do use corvettes though, and so corvettes are part of our ship identification training. When I went on a UNITAS cruise back in 1996, I rode two different corvettes from the Ecuadorian Navy for a few days each, in addition to one of their Leander class frigates.
