Miami really botched things lowballing them when they thought they had the upper chance. Philly must be worried too.
Is Portland punting on the next few seasons, or hoping that Scoot Williams and DeAndre Ayton will be enough to keep things at least entertaining?
So Jimmy Butler shows up at media day with a new look…
So I’ve heard almost all of these stories about Morant separately but this story nicely compiles them all together. Sounds like he started out as a nice kid, whose basketball failure of a father is living vicariously through him, plus he appears to have believed all of his own hype, he has no one to tell him “No,” and for a few years at least he had essentially the NBA and the entire city of Memphis enabling him and covering for his bad behavior.
There was a long Washington Post story about Morant a while ago about the 17-year-old he invited to his house to play basketball then apparently beat the shit out of him over a foul (this is a subject of an ongoing civil suit). The police completely failed to document anything about the incident. According to them, before the lawsuit, absolutely nothing happened. The police again failed to do anything about the Foot Locker incident. He apparently believes that having words printed on t-shirts while changing nothing about his own behavior is the same thing as “redemption.”
But of course he’ll play again, and he’ll likely continue to be a piece of shit fake gangster until he runs into a real one and finds out.
