so, here’s the thing - this show has the _best_ lead in commercials going. If only they would write the show half as exciting/interesting as they do the promos. ---

The thing that bothered me the most was the whole temporary senator thing. First of all, I’m skeptical that there wouldn’t be protocols that would keep her from seeing the classified material her husband had anyway. But even more so, I find it impossible to believe that blackmailing the president by threatening to reveal national secrets on tv would lead to being welcomed into his confidences, which seems certain to happen soon. ---

Most of the story so far could’ve (and should’ve) been summed up in three episodes. I give up on it. Which is a shame, because I am running out of things to watch. ---

I was thinking the same thing. Although I gave up on The Event, Flash Forward, Haven, V, and a number of other shows I don’t even remember the names of anymore, after a few episodes because of how terribly written they were or are, I’m beginning to believe that television programming is simply not for me anymore. ---

I’ve just about had it with the whole hemming and hawing over what “they” are, even when it doesn’t make sense for them to not say. Girl finally catches up with dad, and he still won’t tell her? Yeah, just so they can save it for a big “don’t miss the last two minutes” episode down the road. ---

I have to say I’m grateful that since they rebooted this year, they’ve done a decent job of removing the drawn-out boring stuff (mostly revolving around the search for the little sister) and are strongly pushing forward on the action and plot development now. It may still be terrible sci-fi, but at least now it’s guilty pleasure sci-fi instead of why the f am I still watching this sci-fi. ---

While it’s not the best sci-fi ever, I’ve been down with the show despite it’s LOST method of big questions and slow-burn reveals. I’m seeing this thing through if only to see if I’m close on my theories as to who they are, and what they’re trying to accomplish. They’re obviously started out on a mission of subversive peace (so long as we don’t interfere). I’m still guessing they’re descendents of humanity, and are colonists on a distant star system. Something there went wrong (before the threat of Supernova), and this is their Hail Mary attempt at salvation. Or something. ---

It looks like they’re ditching the Lost formula to some extent though. Absolutely no more flashbacks for starters. I agree that they must be related to humans but now I’m starting to think it’s humans that are an offshoot of them instead of the other way around. Whatever it is, as long as the show doesn’t try to claim they are completely separate forms of life that just happen to look the same and have nearly the same DNA (which it unfortunately seems capable of doing), I probably won’t grumble too much. ---

While 90% of the show is still patently ridiculous, I have to say the plot is getting a little more juicy over the past couple of episodes. The aliens are thru playing nice, and it looks like they are going to bring some their buddies from Planet WhoopAss to sass us down… Anyone else think both the First Lady and the NSA Director (the James Carville-look-a-like) are also aliens? ---

no doubt the first lady is - or atleast the question is enough to cause a new kind of friction - I’m interested in this whole ‘sentinal’ angle - but am afraid the show won’t last long enough to properly explore it - they wasted too much time in the first half. It’s definitely better than it was - but its sill largely a laugh - I always love it when folks with automatic weapons can’t hit anything. ---

After this episode, I think you’re right, they’re our ancestors from waaaaay back. They left earth thousands of years ago, but now that their star is dying, they need to come back. If this is the case, are there other human-ish colonies out there? Simon’s one of my favorite characters on this show, I’m curious to see where they’re going with him. I can’t imagine they’ll play the “First Lady is a sleeper” card here. They’ve been here for 66 years. When she met the yet-to-be prez, how could she have known he would one day _be_ president? (assuming they were married for years before he ever even decided to run) ---

Just as they obviously have an alien planted in every astronomical observatory in the world to make sure they can intercept any message, they simply had an alien marry every person legally qualified to become president one day. This was simpler than just having one of them run for president (or get appointed Secretary of Agriculture and then killing everybody ahead of them in line for the office). Left uncommented upon, because they’re embarrassed, is how many of them are stuck in joyless marriages in Russia because 30 years ago they didn’t know who’d win the Cold War. ---

And why the relative excitement over the pilot-guy (I refuse to learn the names in this show) marrying and having half-breed daughters if the First Lady is doing the same? Besides, no way could her faked background survive the digging of a zillion political reporters during a presidential campaign. ---

I mean, this is a show that wants me to believe that a CIA-trained assassin, a stunning brunette killing machine who has personally murdered 20-odd people over just the past month alone is willing to help a kid (a kid who was blackmailing her with the threat of exposing her secret life, which would doubtlessly lead to her family’s death and her arrest and execution) with his quest to figure out a global conspiracy, the biggest Big Secret in mankind’s history, out of Christian goodness of her heart. Compared to just that one single “Our viewers are brain-dead simpletons” (there are lots, lots more where that came from) asking me to buy a successful faking of an aliens background seems like child’s play to me… ---
