What was the resolution of the episode? I wasn’t paying the closest attention.

The bitchy cheerleader did it. Because, um …

Hmph.

Bueller? Anyone?

As long as someone else started a thread-- I’ll ask my unimportant question.

Did McGee and his sister look alike? I’m curious because my reception is such that I couldn’t tell what she looked like at all. (Sound comes in just fine–and since I watch for the dialogue and characters mostly I’m not inspired to pay for cable at this point).

I think cheerleader did it because she was mad about the stuff that McGee’s sister put on her blog. I also am not sure that cheerleader had really thought through all the likely consequences of her actions, but I’m not sure–I plead guilty to the charge of doing other stuff as I watched the show.

Another thought–I am of course obsessing over the last five minutes of the show in order to postpone obsessing about the stuff I really ought to be obsessing over-- I think cheerleader said something to Sara?, McGee’s sister anyway, about the guy who died–McGee’s sister’s ex-boyfriend having told cheerleader that he’d found true love with McGee’s sister (and somehow only figured it out after he got involved with cheerleader and McGee’s sister started threatening him . . . ) 'Course after that was said, Gibbs said something about a lie, so I wasn’t sure whether he didn’t believe cheerleader, or whether something else was going on.

I was also still trying to figure out why one would want a cheeseless pizza with tobasco sauce, peanut butter and something else illogical. Part of me understands that that just means she likes pizza crust as bread, and part of me thinks she’s deeply, deeply wierd. Of course, being deeply weird may have saved her from a murder charge because it helped Abby prove that McGee’s sister had in fact been drugged, which then lead them to find out that the peanut butter had been spiked–and had cheerleader fingerprints all over it.

I’m still not sure where the dead fishies came in. Or why they died of nicotine poisoning. --Not that anyone needs to answer if they know the answer–hopefully I’ll have forgotten why it mattered by tommorrow.

Why was the guy who got stabbed involved in the situation at all?

The guy who got stabbed was McGee’s sister’s boyfriend. Then he dumped her for the cheerleader. McGee’s sister was mad and made threats to him via e-mail and made nasty comments about the cheerleader in her blog.

That much I understood. What I mean is, after McGee’s sister was drugged, what happened that would cause him to be in the vicinity (and get stabbed)? Who were those other guys in McGee’s sister’s flashback?

Bad cheerleader was trying to quit smoking using the “patch” it is a way to give you nicotine through your skin. I think a patch was put in the fish tank and it killed the fish. How they got out to the grass???

Okay, I’m going to have a shot at this even though I’ve never seen the show before, and am currently bedridden and lacking the attention span to be able to read a book, which may make my analysis somewhat less than perfect…

So, we have:[ul][li] **McGee** , the geeky agent, whose trust in his colleagues’ investigative skills is apparently so tenuous as to cause him to risk his career over his belief that his sister could never kill anyone, even though she apparently blacks out when drinking and shows up at his door drenched in blood which he then encourages her to wash off.[/li][li] **McGee’s Sister** , who used to date **Sailor Boy** until he dumped her for **Bad Cheerleader** , at which point she sent threatening e-mails to him and wrote nasty things about cheerleaders on her blog.[/li][li] **Sailor Boy** , ex-BF of **McGee’s Sister** , now dating **Bad Cheerleader**. Well, he _would_ be, except he’s dead.[/li][li] **Bad Cheerleader** , trying to quit smoking, former owner of goldfish.[/li][li] **Campus Security Guy** , who’s zealous and a bit creepy.[/li][/ul]
**Bad Cheerleader** knows that **McGee’s Sister** uses her own peanut butter jar in her disgusting pizza-based concoction, and spikes the jar with [GHB](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghb), in revenge for the blog “dissing”. **McGee’s Sister** then falls prey to **Campus Security Guy** , who attempts to rape her, but is thwarted by **Sailor Boy** , presumably coming to visit **Bad Cheerleader**. **Campus Security Guy** accidentally kills **Sailor Boy** and bolts. **McGee’s Sister** is still under the effects of the GHB and takes the cab to **McGee** ’s apartment. [Presumably, she takes the knife into the cab with her and drops it there].

At the end, **McGee’s Sister** hugs **Bad Cheerleader** and tells her a made-up story about how **Sailor Boy** e-mailed her (MS) saying that **Bad Cheerleader** was his “soulmate”, _purely to make the latter feel better about herself_. This was commented on by the Boss as being an “unselfish act” (or similar term).

The goldfish were indeed killed by the nicotine patch that **Bad Cheerleader** dropped in their tank, but – like **Booker57** – I’m lost as to how they ended up on the grass. Perhaps **Bad Cheerleader** witnessed her BF’s death, went to her room, saw the dead goldfish and decided that she’d had enough of dead bodies, and got rid of them. Even if that’s the case, and she threw them out of the window rather than flushing them or tossing them in the trash, they all landed remarkably close together.

On reflection, I think that there may have been some hasty editing at the end, but I’m not familiar with the show and don’t know if that’s typical. It seems as though the final wrap-up needed a minute or so of extra flashbacks – which may have been filmed but ended up on the cutting-room floor.

[I haven’t yet decided whether it’s immensely patronizing, or rather witty, for the writers to have a “smart” student majoring in English Lit be constantly studying a book simply titled \*“English Literature”\* prior to taking an exam on Chaucer.]

Now we’re getting somewhere, although I thought **Sailor Boy** was dating **Good Cheerleader**. \*\*McGee’s Sister \*\* slapped around **Bad Cheerleader**.

From my half watching,
-McGee’s sister dates Sailor,
-Sailor dumps Sister for Good Cheerleader
-Sister threatens Sailor in email
-Sister trashes all cheerleaders in blog
-Bad Cheerleader spikes Sister’s peanut butter
-Sister eats peanut butter, gets woozy.
-Security Guard happens upon Sister and tries something.
-Sailor (who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time) sees Sister getting assaulted, tries to stop it, because he just dumped her, not wanted her dead.
-Security Guard stabs Sailor
-Sister freaks out and runs away.

At the end, Sister lies to Good Cheerleader “Sailor emailed ‘I really love Good Cheerleader’ to me” in order to make Good Cheerleader feel better.

Bad Cheerleader goes to jail. (She smokes. The fish were killed with her nicotine patch in a baggie. I’m not sure how they figured in either. But, there was something about hazing new cheerleaders, so she might have needed them for something along those lines.)

Usually, the plots are a bit clearer, though not necessarily more plausible.

Hmmm… a murder, a _[near]_ rape, and a bunch of observers who can’t quite agree on what happened ---- sounds like we’ve got ourselves a nice [Rashomon](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042876/) going on here!

_Starring:_
**Sailor Boy** as the Samurai
**Campus Security Guy** as the Bandit
**McGee’s Sister** as the Samurai’s \*[ex-]\*Wife

It seems from what others have said that there were _two_ important cheerleaders, and that I had conflated them into one **Bad Cheerleader** in my earlier post. **amarinth** ’s synopsis makes much more sense!

[Perhaps I’m just not to be trusted with complex plot analyses when cheerleaders are onscreen…]

It seems to me that it is typical of the show to have a sudden revelation leading to plot resolution in the last 5 minutes. This usually (for me) is immediately viscerally satisfying in the sense of “Aha, someone else wielded the knife” but upon further reflection may be unsatsifactory because of a tendency for things to be convenient-- can’t think of an example that I can explain at the moment–but it isn’t unusual for things to be not quite clear, or for one to wish they’d explain the sudden insight a bit more, or the motivation of the characters or something else.

But I watch the show because I enjoy the dialogue and the interactions between the main characters, not for the logic of the plots.

The important thing here is that there were two cheerleaders, but **amarinth** covered that. The goldfish were in a plastic bag with a nicotine patch that later sprung a leak, but I don’t know how or why they got there, other than a probable cheerleader hazing ritual.

**Eureka** , McGee’s sister did look a _little_ like him, I suppose. If they were introduced to me as siblings, I wouldn’t say “no way, you guys look nothing alike.” Which is what people have been known to say about my brother and I. 🙂

It was a bad epi, and when they try “to make things personal” in cop shows, the epis usually are- not to mention it’s an indication of possible shark-jumping.

In this case however, it seemed to just be an epi written so that the Producers daughter (McGee’s sister) could get some acting credits- although she can’t act and isn’t even all that “hot”.

Do I see a shark and a ski jump? :dubious:

Well, this was her THIRD appearance on the show (but the first, if memory serves, where she is specifically identified as McGee’s sister). And Bellisario’s son spent a few episodes as a lab tech last season.

If there were a ski jump, I think it was built well before now.
