I think the whole ‘music is part of my identity and right now I’m projecting!’ thing is what alot of people go through as they grow up… I’d probably still be annoyed in certain circumstances but that doesn’t mean I haven’t done it!

did make me think of this…

I voted tool, and I confess that I was one myself back in highschool. (2 x 12" speakers mounted in the rear deck of my '68 bug, used for blasting Deep Purple, Led Zep, etc.)

> IMO, people who get pissed off at a little bit of music at a traffic light are the tools. Live a little, enjoy your surroundings, open your mind and all that sort of thing. Life is too short to get angry about stuff like that.

I only get angry when it happens at night and I am trying to sleep. Otherwise, I just think it’s stupid.

> Oh, and if your incredible bass is actually making the panels of your car rattle as you roll down the street, making it sound like your ride is about to fall apart any moment, I’m going to laugh at you. You’re asking for it.

That much vibration is likely to loosen the lug nuts on your hooptie’s wheels. 'Course, when the wheels come off, 'sno big deal - homie can just jitter down the road like a cartoon jackhammer.

My neighbor’s kid used to come home from HS, driving the family’s 10 yr old Dodge Caravan with the back window broken and different color tailgate, rocking the wife-beater, wallet chain baggy khakis, not quite all the way backwards fashion-colored-with-the-straight-bill-and-all-stickers-still-attached MLB cap, blasting the music so loud that the vehicle shook.

The worst of it was, it was early Madonna!

I waffled between answereing “Tool” and “whatev”.
I went with Tool, but my reaction to the fact that he’s a tool is definitely “whatev.”

Exactly. In fact, Tool may still be too harsh for me. I would go with ‘cornball’ and ‘whatever’.

Is that, for lack of a better way of describing it, Mexican polka music? Because when I lived in Texas I heard too much of that.

I’d love to see somebody in their 70s near a group of teens blasting some Peter, Paul and Mary or some music like that.

I’m trying to, but some tool’s favorite anthem is harshing my mellow.

I’ve a very open mind and heart. I just don’t think that your form of amusement should be permitted to impede everyone else’s.

Roll up your freaking windows or get a damn headset already, if you simply must have your music deafeningly loud.

Merely loud music? Oblivious semi-tool. Bass? Obnoxious must-force-his-choice-down-others’-throats tool.

One of my neighbors had a friend over showing off-while I was trying to sleep at ten in the morning(since I work second shift), and even though our bedroom’s about 100-some odd feet from where he was parked, I had to go ask him to please turn it down, because I couldn’t sleep.

Heee…

The combination of your username and this post are very appropriate. 😃

So…how does one go about building a cross-resonating tone machine?

2 frequency generators, a stereo amp, and 2 tweeters. No idea how hard it is to make a car window resonate but in theory it’s possible. I once had a bad wheel bearing that would violently shake the car when the exhaust hit a certain note. Even passing trucks would set it off.

Loud music doesn’t bother me, as long as it’s during reasonable hours, and especially if it’s only for a minute as you sit at a light.

It’s the beepers that make me homicidal. If it were up to me, car horns would only work if the car was going at least 15 mph. The purpose of a car horn is to alert people that you’re about to hit them if they don’t move. It’s not to simply alert the world to your presence.

Sorry **DianaG** …

My rental comes with a garage. There are signs posted saying “please wait until the door closes completely”. One of my neighbors thinks that includes cases when there are other cars waiting behind him. The other day there were three of us waiting at the bottom of the ramp, wanting to be able to perform that strange activity known as “going to work”, and I beeped him. It was just a little beep. Will you forgive me if I beg on my knees? _makes puppy eyes_ It’s about the sixth time I’ve honked at anybody in over 15 years driving…

The blasting isn’t too big of a deal in a non-residential area, but at least tone down the stupid bass. There are cars that come by here at least 300 feet away and they rattle the building.
