The 1938 remake of “Dawn Patrol” with Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone and David Niven was better than the 1930 version with Richard Barthelmess and Douglas Fairbanks Jr was better. Probably due to Flynn’s star power. It was apparently remade so Warner Brothers could financially benefit from Germany annexing Austria a month earlier. With advances in sound recording, they could use music and engine noises better.
