Necromancers

I’m setting a reminder in my calender to revive this thread in two years.

It’s really not anything new…

Is this new? (stupid replies to zombie threads)
What’s with all the zombie threads recently?
Is there consensus regarding how the newbies find the zombie threads so efficiently?

Well before your join date of a couple months ago.

Go now, and in repentance, make a sacrifice to the jackal-headed god, Anewbies.

I wish that either revived threads were treated like normal threads, without the tired zombie jokes and, sometimes, locking. If that’s not possible, which would be surprising as most other forums on the internet manages it, then locking threads over, say, 3 months old automatically would solve the problem.

Driving away newcomers who respond to an old thread, like they would do anywhere else, with stupid jokes is the worst possible option IMHO.

I agree. I too (and others) have mentioned this in the past. Shame on all of you, especially the ones who shouldn’t quit their day jobs for stand-up comedy.

I wouldn’t so much pit thread-raisers and those thread-raisers who raise a 5-year-old thread just to respond with an insignificant “I agree” to one of the posts.

Apparently, TPTB view older threads as bait to attract new members.

I’ll probably be in dead in two years. Or not a member here anyway. So, I hope it’s not just to annoy me.

I wish they would take a vote on it.

There is no doubt in my mind - I am going to bump this thread monthly until the day I die.

Some of the things being revived are really stupid. Like a things that have timelines. I do think some of it spamming/trolling. There are a lot of boards that archive their things. I think The Dope might just be allowing zombies because they don’t want to change the way things are done.

It will make me laugh knowing there’s not something more important you could be doing with that time.

Time not important. Only laugh important.

Are you 142-years-old? Have late-stage lung cancer? A canyon-jumping daredevil? Plan to spend your time standing at the corner of Florence and Normandie late at night wearing your red bandana?

No, just very pessimistic. I’m not thirty year and sometimes have doubts I’ll make it another decade or so on this earth.

If you stick around, you can watch your enemies get old and die.

Well, dancing on their graves would be nice.

I’ll see how long I can out run cancer and the other alligments that run in my family.

Exactly the opposite. They used to close them. I gave the reason for the change to allow them in my earlier post-- the ability to revive an old thread attracts new members.

Anybody hear that? -pumps shotgun- Sounded like a zombie thread horde.
