I would add [Begotten by Elias Merhige](http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7973225371449473825). This is easily the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen. While it’s not big on suspenseful tension, it’s one hell of a macabre ride. May have to watch it on Google Video since it’s nearly impossible to find elsewhere, except for eBay. ---

Good lists. My favourite Halloween movie is [Young Frankenstein](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072431/). I also like [An American Werewolf in London](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082010/). It has a mix of comedy and horror, and the special effects hold up pretty well. ---

_ **The Vanishing** (the original Dutch version; not a “horror” movie, but the end will haunt you long after you see it)_ I just ordered this from Amazon–it’s getting to be the time of year for scary movies! I’ve been poking through the bargain bins for DVDs, since I’m not a huge watch 'em over and over kind of person, but this one ain’t to be found in the bargain bins.
