# Need a little windows registry help.

I’m currently running windows 7 and I connected my old primary hard drive from an xp machine and tried to export a cd key for a game. Now whenever I run regedit.exe on my windows 7 drive it opens the registry from my old machine. I’m assuming i didn’t overwrite the win7 registry with my xp one, because some apps that came with the win 7 machine are still working. Nevertheless before I do anything else, how can I get the regedit.exe on my windows7 drive to load the proper registry?

Go to C:\Windows and run regedit.exe from there. Right click on regedit.exe to make sure it is the Windows 7 version, which should give you:
