Oh, and a 6 is for a major triad – a 13 needs a minor seven. That is all. Just the usual terminology I’m familar with. I’d never add a Maj7 to a 6 chord (even though it’s implied) – look at the original sheet of “Cherokee” or something – all x6 chords iirc.
Right - in practice you won’t see 11 used much on major or dominant chords because of the clash between the 3rd and the 4th/11th…take the major third out and you’re left with a sus4 type chord.
So long as you don’t call the 11 an “avoid note,” I’m 100% on board. Actually, it’s nice to hear somebody agree with me for once, especially when I can’t muscle them into agreeing with me “or else!” I kid! I’m kidding!
You guys are freaking me out
Hey, man, you started by freakin’ my shit out! I was just following up on what you said! And ETA I wasn’t kidding about keyboardists muscling in – we’re the one’s who got to carry all the heavy shit, and (9/10) the PA too.
This time I’m in the wrong about the open - C tuning, but next time it’ll be a bass player (as a Hammond-player, I think of them as tambourine-players, but whatevs). That’s why I like this forum – lots of different kinds of instrumentalists and lots of better musicians than I’ll ever be weighing in. Not you, though WordMan – I got my eye open for you!
Why not do a PDX doper hang – I can’t bring my shit in a backpack, but I can hang just having fun?

I highly recommend the book too if you can find it. You might be able to figure out Sunflower River Blues just by watching the video.
Yep; it just plays to the old-but-often-true bromide about keyboardists being better grounded in theory vs. Guitarists esp self-taught ones like me. Folks like Le Ministre, zombywoof and CookingWithGas know their theory stuff here…
Also, Texas Lemon Flavor (might be worth your 99 cents )
I know there’s a tab in a Stefan Grossman book, I just don’t know which one (and my fingerpicking books are two hours away).
im a little late but Jeff Williams known as capo420420 on youtube plays mainly in open C great guitarist
Oh, I thought the thread title was Naked Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals in Open C. I see now that I was mistaken.
Carry on.
