Need an economical way to transfer $$ from US to Canada regularly

Nope. An American company bought TD Waterhouse and now they seem to no longer be linked. Everyone is very confused in customer support.

I’m also sort of dealing with this - but the other way around. I’m hoping cash and foreplanning-and-cheques will get me through.

Oi!
HSBC just implemented a new policy to do exactly what you need doing, for free!
(Link to the Daily News. I read 'em all…)

The limit is $1500 a day and $5000/month. It’s designed for Hispanics sending money to the mother country, but there’s no problem sending money anywhere in the world.

Awesome! And Bank of America is planning a no-fee service, too, according to that report. That’s great! Western Union is such a ripoff. I never understood why it’s taken banks so long to figure out a way to transfer money between each other without ridiculous costs to the consumer.

Qadgop,

Did you ever get a solution to this problem? I friend of mine is facing a similar situation and I wasn’t sure what to say.

Thanks

Qadgop deposits money into my checking account at the local US bank. I withdraw it with my card from Canadian ATMs. The US bank doesn’t charge any fees for international withdrawals from my account, and I don’t think the Canadian ATMs are allowed to. It’s working pretty well.

Thanks!
