Need book recommendations for very young children

Another kids book ( part of a series, but I haven’t found #2 yet at the library and am too cheap to buy it.) Operation Red Jericho .

Set in the 20’s in China. Two english children whose parents are missing somewhere in China, are shuttled off to another relative and the adventures they have are on every page. Chinese warlords, research vessles disguised as superior battleships, mysterious and ancient Guilds and kung fu warriors. The man in a linen suit. Yanno the drill. All that was missing was Major Arnold Toht. it was seriously lacking any German Menace, but I suppose in book two those wacky Krauts will make an appearance.

It’s alot like an Indiana Jones meet two english school children who are always in trouble but really it isn’t their fault but it is because they just didn’t stay put.

Probably ages 11 and up.

Mo Willems rawks! We also like his Gerald and Piggy books, which are fun but not too long, and (now that my kid is 4 I’m finding) good for teaching reading.

NB: “Knuffle Bunny” is pronounced “Kah-nuffle Bunny,” if you take Trixie’s pronunciation in the sequel as canon. Us, we’ve been saying “Nuffle” so long, I can’t change now.

KING BIDGOOD’S IN THE BATHTUB!!!

Ohhhh, I loved this book as a kid. Some of the most amazing pictures, and lots of repetition so the really little ones will stay interested too.

The older one might appreciate stuff like The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. That was my all-time favorite children’s book.

I have more, but my timer’s going off, so I’ll come back later!

I just searched for this to see if anyone was talking about it. Lord, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard at anything. This book is a treat for anyone, at any age. It is just dead-on right about middle school, with no morals and no apologies.

If anyone has a chance, pick it up. You will NOT regret it.

I always liked Open House for Butterflies.

The Hobbit is ideal for a child of eight.

The Little Mole who knew it was none of his business is great - it is about…well,… poo. Animal poo.

I second “It’s time for bed” - before my daughter could read, she would help by making the noises for each animal as it went to sleep.

Also, the Eddy and the Bear books by Jez Alborough - Where’s my Teddy? and It’s the Bear!

When she was about 2 she named her Teddy Freddy 'cos of those books! It surprised me as I didn’t know the books - she had heard them at childcare.

I’m already laughing just at the title.
