# Need hair product recommendations

I have thick, coarse, curly hair. Currently I have a boy cut, something along the lines of [this](http://www.mgcpuzzles.com/mgcpuzzles/images/magazines_and_newspapers_photos/in_style_wedding_magazine_A.jpg) but a little asymmetrical. It works both curly and straight, but I like it better straight.

I need a hair product that will give it that messy, textured look (I don’t like it as sleek as it is in that pic) without bringing back the curl. It has to be something without water in it, or my hair gets wavy and that annoys me.

What type of product would you suggest? Wax? Glue? Pomade? Some sort of putty? You can name specific products if you’d like, but I’m just looking for a general idea of something I can pick up at CVS.

I have very wavy, thick, shoulder-length hair. I use [this](http://www.redken.com/products/styling/medium-control/rough-paste-12) and love it. It comes out the way toothpaste does but is thicker. Rub between hands & finger through hair. I use it on already dried hair as a finishing “messifier”. I get tons of compliments on my hair.

I would try a pomade - Crew has a good one although it smells kind of manly. I have very coarse curly hair and I used to use that when I had a short haircut. My CVS actually carries it – its not too esoteric.
